PSA: Be careful if you're scheduled to pickup on Friday. The activation timer may starts on Friday but the CS aren't availble on weekends, which means you only have whatever hours left on Friday to attempt cancelling the line.

Nothing to add about this deal, but I got this phone a couple months ago and I have to say it's the best phone I've ever used. My wife got a Iphone 16 pro max and the camera on the Pixel 9 pro XL puts it to shame - especially when zoomed in. And the battery is usually around 40% when I go to bed at night after heavy use all day.

So if you're on the fence about this phone, don't be - you'll love it!

For me, the phone will be ready for pickup on Thursday. Would the 3 day counter for Verizon start today itself or when I pickup?
When you get them email that's it ready for pickup.

So assume you get the phone and a sim, from Verizon or att. What is to keep me from just putting a mint sim in there and using it and never dealing with the carrier?
Your information during the sign up will have you on the hook with the carrier service. The physical phone doesn't play into the equation.

What happens if I don't port, but I've already put in my phone number, zip and account number during the check out process?
The checkout process only verifies the info does not do the port process but they do create the account and the line when the phone ships/being picked up

Will AT&T port by number right away when the order is placed? What if I cancel the line before activating ?

Just went to the store but I couldn't do it. Awesome deal but when I picked up that XL phone it just felt too big. Guess I'm too used to the smaller size phones now...
Your couldn't do it coz of the phone size?

Well, I'm in the 'same' boat. Picked up my phone. I confirmed it is unlocked (just made a couple calls on TMobile). However, I did not get any email or information from Verizon (re: sim or e-sim or account number). Best Buy did NOT give any Verizon sim. I am not sure how Verizon can find my account. Any thoughts?
Not sure about this. When I did walmart verizon iphone deal with esim only, i think it auto booted asking to setup verizon services. I just went ahead with it and found my phone number once it was activated. That was all I required to create verizon account.

How did you handle your files? Did you transfer in-store or did you have your phone wiped before you walked in?

I just did a backup before I went to the store and wiped it right before trade in

9 Pro XL is 221 grams. Anything over 200 grams is going to be heavy in my opinion.

Does the number actually need to be ported before I can try cancellation?
I believe there might be problems if the line is not activated once you go to cancel it. Technically the line is not active and they should not charge you but you never know with these carriers.

My base Pixel 8 is only 7 months old and I can get $200 selling it. Doesn't seem to make sense for me to pay $200 just for 1 year newer, pro and XL.
Not really. Iphone have better trade in credits like 12 is about 350, 13 is 400. See if you can find an iphone 12 series onwards

Yeah, you can do the cancellation now. The phone should work with any SIM you have.
I think that's part of my question though. Do I need to cancel if I have never activated anything?

If I cancel the account with AT&T, will it cancel my original number too? Even if I don't port in?

How do you rep the deal at the store? My local store has the phone and they said they will activate it. Is it ok to buy, activate at the store and close the line in 3 days?
Yes, that should be fine.
