Best buy is offering elevated trade ins for Pixel 9 pro and with carrier discount you have to pay only $10. You can also buy an unlocked pixel 8a from target for $299 https://www.target.com/p/google-p...A-91747221 making Pixel 9 pro XL to be $310 in total, $90 less than the recent FP deal here https://slickdeals.net/f/18181615-google-pixel-9-pro-xl-128gb-unlocked-obsidian-ga05900-us-best-buy-carrier-activation-required-399

How to get the deal

1. Go to BB Listing for PIxel 9 pro XL and choose "We'll help to connect this with carrier" for $499.
2. Then click on the trade in on top and select Pixel 8a for $490 refund. Note this might show $190 but during the final checkout it should take out $490.
3. Choose Verizon and then new number (you can also choose to transfer a number but given that you are going to cancel it first thing new number is better).
4. Go through checkout and fill out verizon related info. Note down the account PIN you used as you might need it later during cancellation.
5. You have to pick the phone up in the store as you are trading in. After pickup, setup verizon account with the new phone number.
6. Chat with CS to cancel the account. Activation fee is waived if cancelled within 3 days.
7. The phone is factory unlocked, sealed and ready to be used with any provider.

Questions from the previous threads

1. Is Verizon credit check hard or soft pull?
Soft pull, it will also show that during checkout.

2. Can I use the phone with any provider?
Yeah, these are unlocked phones.

3. When is the line activated i.e. from when does the 3-day counter starts?
This I'm not quite sure of but I'm going to pick my phone soon so I can update but it seems according to some the line is activated right during ordering. If that's the case your counter starts from then. You will still be saving even if you need to pay the activation fee of $35.

4. Does the phone come sealed? How about the verizon SIM
The phone will be sealed with verizon SIM taped onto it.

5. How do we cancel?
The best way is to setup verizon account, you need the phone number which you can get by popping in the SIM that you get from best buy onto any unlocked phone or pixel 9 pro XL and then chat with CS to cancel the line.

6. Is there anything during cancellation that needs attention?
Yes, the CS reps are trained to cancel the line at the billing cycle instead of right away. Be polite but insist on getting the line cancelled right away to avoid activation fee/extra day charges. Note that you are cancelling under buyers remorse policy, this is not mid-cycle cancellation for which you have to pay the whole cycle anyway. Use the term buyers remorse when you talk to CS about bills too.
Also don't talk about the phone you got at a discount. You are just canceling the line here, the device you are using on the line does not matter.

7. Is Verizon going to send me a bill even after cancellation?
In all likelihood, they will. You will have to chat with CS (and again mention the line was cancelled under buyers remorse) to get the charges waived.

8. What are the different activations? Do I need to activate my phone in verizon?
So there are three things that happen from Verizon when you buy a phone from them or best buy. 1. An account is created if you don't have one. 2. A line is created in that account and activated. (if you are porting a number then porting happens first on that line). 3. You put the SIM that comes with the phone in your phone and activate the phone in the network.
You don't need to activate your phone, once the line is created and you picked up the phone you can and cancel the line. You might need to know the phone number of the line for which you might need to pop in the SIM but apart from that you should only be cancelling your line.

9. Can bestbuy charge me back the discount when I cancel the line with Verizon?
No, your transaction with BB is done once you picked up the phone. They can't charge you anything after that. You only remaining task is to cancel the line.

I thought this might be a good deal for getting pixel 9 pro XL for cheap. It's possible these elevated trade in values go away on 03/23. You can also check the trade in values for other phones.

I used my Pixel 6 Pro as a trade in for 280$, and got this for $219.00 out the door. Canceled at home with Verizon over the phone in 10 minutes.

Then I was able to use the Gemini 1 year trial for 12months free, and canceled my ChatGpt subscription.

Minus the discrepancies and use cases one might have between the two ai's, I came out on top.

Man I'm not understanding something...

I'm a Verizon customer. This deal is only for a new line? So do I have a path, from my current Pixel 6 to a Pixel 9 Pro XL, while maintaining my current number/plan?

Are you doing trade in,.if so store is the only option and it will change to that during checkout.
Okay that's what I figured about the other deal posts were talking about cancelling the Verizon line as soon as it shipped... so I thought you could ship.

I have a 15% off account specific coupon at Target and with 5% RedCard I can bring the price of pixel 8a to $258 including tax but I am too lazy to do this deal..lol. First, I need to unfreeze my credit followed by in-store trade-in and then follow the instructions to cancel the Verizon line. I mean this is a great deal but just not too motivated.

Having never done something like this before, I have a question, but I did pull the trigger on the Pixel 8a and ordered the phone from Best Buy as well, I opted for the 256gb version, so the total due from Best Buy was $119.03 after tax.

Question..
The phone isn't available for pickup until next Thursday (3/27), and I'm picking up the Pixel 8a from Target this afternoon. Do I cancel Verizon after picking up the phone from Best Buy next Thursday, or get in touch with them today and say I changed my mind?

Thank you in advance

I had a wonderfully straightforward experience! I traded in my 64GB Locked iPhone 12, which I purchased for $75 through a metro deal a few months ago. I walked away with a brand-new, sealed, unlocked phone that included a SIM card. As long as I don't activate the SIM or plan, I believe there will be no activation fees or plans to cancel. I'm activating the phone with Visible and using helium for the second SIM instead of ever contacting Verizon. I went with the new number option.

You do have a path. Add a new line to your existing account and cancel

Cancel after picking up. As mentioned in the original post the line might be activated when you order so you might have to eat the activation fee but you could argue you didn't get the phone on hand before Thursday and can't check the signal quality at home if you give that reason for cancellation. CS reps can override lot or charge.

The "line" might/would have been activated already when you picked up the phone irrespective whether you put it in the phone and activate the "phone" on the network so please check by setting up a VZW account etc as mentioned in the original post.

Yeah but if I want to trade in my phone...? I'd need to yeet my line to another phone so my current Pixel 6 is available to trade in? That's the part I don't understand.

You can trade in pixel 6 and keep the SIM and then put it in new Pixel 9 Pro XL while you cancel the newly added line. You might need to pop in the SIM from the new line in Pixel 9 pro XL one time (if you don't have another unlocked phone lying around) for getting the number.

"Your wireless carrier has declined your application. Please contact your carrier or visit your local Best Buy store."

Absolutely no issue with my credit. FICOs are 780+ with all 3 bureaus. All reports are unlocked. Thick file.

I do occasionally have ID verification issues opening bank accounts online, but not sure if that's the issue as no details are provided on the reason for decline. My info matches, entered carefully. No new address.

Not an existing mobile customer nor have I ever been a Verizon post-paid customer. I DO have Fios at my address (and was previously under my name, though its under P2's name now and has been for years), but it won't let me sign in with that info.

Not sure why the hell I would go to the store only to encounter the same issue, and they aren't "my" carrier, so dumb suggestion from Best Buy.

It's a shame the AT&T deal isn't the same price.
have you done similar deal in the past with Verizon and cancel immediately ?
I have done it and getting same declined error. Wonder if I am placed on some blacklist.

I went back to ask the agent. He confirmed that I would need to activate the account or the SIM card. YMMV, but my "new line" was not activated at the store.

My pick-up date for the phone got pushed back to next Thursday from my order a few days ago. Likely due to slickdealer demand.

Do folks know if the trade-in price is locked in when you make the online order? I don't have a lot of optimism that the upgrade trade-in prices may last a whole week.
