Like I said if you are upgrading an old system then it's just 155+100 so 255. And most people are not near MC, so figure 290+80 cheap MB + 80 32gb ddr5 $450, 9700x isn't almost double the performance of a 12700k. I would say go for ryzen if you have the money or are building from scratch, but for a budget upgrade this is great. Hell, I might upgrade my 7700k VR-only rig with one of these as it's got 32gb of good ram.

It's not much slower than the new 15th gen that was a step backwards from the 14th though 😂 Oh and less than half the price. Great at this price if you are upgrading an old pc as you can still get DDR4 MB for this, making it only a little over $200 to get this and a cheap MB and have a huge upgrade over a 6th-11th gen.

Thanks OP, cheaper than anywhere else, except maybe Aliexpress.
Doing my very first PC build, decided to do a cheap last gen intel build. Already ordered 1700 motherboard, was gonna go with intel 12400f for $110, but for $45 more for more cores might go i7 (though bad being more power usage & heat).
Now I just need to catch an intel arc b580 in stock, though it looks like prices might go up anywhere from $50-$100 than two months ago Mad

This is total trash option, especially for those have MC access.

$155+$100 MB+$50 32GB DDR4 = $305. this is the minimum you have to spend.

MC has $400 combo for 9700x, DDR-5, much better energy usage, much better performance all around.
I got a 5800xt with a B550 Tomahawk for $285 and I'm considering returning it for this. can I get a mobo as good as the Tomahawk for this at about $130?

edit: I meant the Intel. I dont have a MC nearby

So you wanna go with DDR4 option.
GIGABYTE Z790 S WiFi DDR4 is decent imo.

I just realised I'd need a cooler too. I might as well just stick with what I got. was originally just going 5600t, adding $40 for the 5800xt looked worth it, but 12700kf looks like another + $30-$50 ontop of that

This is what I paid for mine back in Dec of 2023. I did have some help though.
Order Summary
Item(s) Subtotal:$214.99
Shipping & Handling:$0.00

Estimated tax to be collected:$16.12
Gift Card Amount:-$50.00
Rewards Points:-$26.02
Grand Total:$155.09

It has been a Great processor highly recommended, system is super stable and pushes a 4070 TI Super just fine.

I scored the $211, I7-14700K so I'll be passing this to my kids later next month.

Still feels weird to see a deal on a 12th gen i7.

Love my 12700KF. It's paired with a 6900XT. For gaming this CPU will last many more years. That was a rock star of a generation of CPUs. Maybe one of the best i7's ever IMO
