If anyone is curious about the Rtings.com score:

8.5 Mixed Usage
8.0 TV Shows
7.9 Sports
8.8 Video Games
8.8 HDR Movies
8.9 HDR Gaming
8.5 PC Monitor

The Hisense U8K is an excellent TV overall. It's extremely bright in both HDR and SDR and has fantastic reflection handling, so it's stellar in any bright room setting. Its contrast and black uniformity are superb, so it also looks amazing in dark rooms, and highlights pop amazingly well when watching HDR movies and games. Overall, it has very good image processing and supports advanced audio and video formats, making it a great choice for a home entertainment TV. It's great as a gaming TV due to its amazing picture quality, superbly low input lag, and good response time. Unfortunately, its viewing angle is inadequate, so it's not a great TV for any wide seating arrangement, like when watching TV shows or sports with friends.

PROS
Fantastic contrast results in deep blacks in a dark room.
Exceptionally bright in both SDR and HDR.
Fantastic reflection handling.

CONS
Image degrades when viewed from the side.
It's a bit buggy at times.

Three years ago, I purchased a 45U6 and a 65U8, and they're still working great. This March, I bought the Hisense 85U8N from Amazon. I mainly use it to watch TV shows and movies, and on weekends, I play games with my kids. Its performance is truly impressive. I also bought Samsung and TCL TVs for my parents' house, and after two years, Google TV runs sluggishly on them. But on the Hisense, Google TV is still running smoothly.
You have had a different experience than mine
I own the Hisense U8H and U8N...and the Samsung QN90A and QN90C

I have had wifi and E-arc issues with the Hisesne TV's and also inconsistent HDMI CEC control issues

Not one issue with either of the Samsung's

I got this TV in Jan. So far so good. Only issue I have is that the sound cuts out for a split second from time to time. I'm hoping they find a fix for it. Other than that I'm really enjoying it.
If you are using a receiver, changing to PCM in audio setting can help.

Thank you!

How would you compare TCL QM8 (2024) to the U8K (2023)? They are available for similar price.
I did a lot of research on these brands the past couple of years.

The 2023 QM8 and U8K are nearly identical. The Hisense edges out in some cases, the QM8 edges out in others. I think I'd give the edge to the Hisense overall but, for all intents and purposes, they were interchangeable and you should buy whatever is cheaper.

The U8N didn't get a US release. The 2024 QM8 was significantly better than the U8K. The 2024 QM7 was on par with the U8K.

I bought the 85" 2023 QM8 because it was $300 cheaper than the U8K. I bought the 98" 2024 QM8 when it dropped to 3k last year. I've been happy with both.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these sets. The U8K is still a fantastic set and you won't be unhappy with it, especially at this price.

But Best Buy in my area has open box 2024 98" QM7's in good condition for $1800. That would be REALLY tempting over this.

I bought this last year at best buy for $3k with installation. The free installation is totally worth it. Such a large and heavy TV. They had to ship it one day with a different truck then the next day sent 2 guys to install. The best buy guys were perfect. Buy from Best Buy if it includes free install at the same price.

I bought this a couple of months ago at Best Buy when they gave you 2000 in gift cards with purchase. This is a amazing TV, bought the Hisense soundbar and no complaints at all. This has changed my thoughts on future TV's. I was afraid about it being too big, but I can't imagine buying a smaller TV in the future. I can definitely recommend this TV.

Anyone have any thoughts on the costco 100" hisense compared to this? that one is such a great deal - $1800 including a 5 year warranty and install. This is $2800 but no extended warranty.

Obviously, this TV is better but is it $1300-$1400 better in value?

At what point does it just make more sense to buy a projector?

Hisense is no good. Poor customer service and quality control. You can Google to find countless horror stories.

Size aside, compared to a 65CX-65C4, visually, how much "worse" would it be? Been wanting to get something larger. I'm just not sure how this would fit in the front door.

If you have twice as much money, a light controlled room, and the space, get a projector.

I'll throw in that I own the QN90B and I have zero issues with....zero.

Energy Guide for this TV says 622KWH consumed per year on average. That's nuts.

Varies a lot depending where you live. I pay $0.12/kwh, so for me that would be $75/yr. Then the other aspect people rarely calculate is the impact on your HVAC. In the summer, the energy usage is all extra heat in your house that you have to pay again to remove via AC. In winter, the incidental heat is a bonus.
