Tempting, if it's still shuckable.

Assuming it's the same drive as previously found on Reddit, you're looking at around $210-$230 if purchased refurbished.

Subtract the cost of the SN770 and you're at around $10.50/TB, which is currently unheard of for a brand new drive.

This would have been an amazing deal if paired with the Terramaster D8-Hybrid from a month ago.

For just the external, Amazon is now a couple dollars less and WD directly is same price.https://www.amazon.com/Elements-D...XWPQG?th=1https://www.westerndigital.com/pr...00HBK-NESN
Neither of these come with the free SSD which is part of what makes this such a great deal.

FWIW, Bestbuy also dropped their price to $279 for the WD easystore 20TB (they were on sale for $349 earlier):
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-e...Id=6500985

Note that it does not come with a free 1tb ssd and the price is not as low as BF when it was $250, but I figured I'd put it here just in case you have like a BB GC or something. Also, there's 4% CB at BB from a certain company instead of 1% at Newegg.

Edit: Amazon also dropped their price for a 20TB WD: https://www.amazon.com/Elements-D...B09VCXWPQG
They (amazon, B&H, et. al.) may have dropped their price, but the SSDs are not included. Even if you don't pay tax at B&H, I still think the newegg one is the best deal.

also available on BH: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr..._hard.htmlif you have their payboo credit card, no sales tax!
Yeah, I saw that as well.
FYI BH does not have the 1TB SSD though. I'd rather to buy from BH to save on the $28 tax. But YMMV.

If you can get by with 18tb and are ok with Seagate, just got their 18tb for $229 minus 10% for new customer. I was able to set up a new account use twice too. About $213 delivered.

Seagate generally has higher failure rates than WD. So you're paying a bit more, but it's less likely to fail.

The WD's have strange custom firmware that artificially limits their speeds. There is nothing particularly special about the drive inside, either, it's just a WD drive.

The Exos does not have this firmware issue, and it's an enterprise drive.

Source or B.S. Exos is the sought-after drive for a reason.

still too high even with the throw in 1TB which is way too small anyway for practical needs.

During checkout it reveals that the free SSD is out of stock and must be removed from your cart in order to complete the checkout.

Annoyingly as I went to checkout it said the free gift was OOS on Newegg and I had to remove it from the cart, went ahead with the HDD purchase anyways since I needed one.

I don't even get the SSD in the cart when I add the external drive and have checked that I want the free gift. No error or notice, just no SSD.
