Anyone wondering dedicated player vs ps5 vs xbox: https://www.reddit.com/r/HD_MOVIE..._ult
Basically, esoteric and unless you have a nice home theater setup and the right TV to player setup and settings made, most causal tv viewers won't notice/care and will do fine on a game console.
Collectors, movie enthusiasts, pixel peeping types? Can matter and the top Panasonic players worth it.

My main dilemma I'm having is if I really want to commit to buying $20-$30 discs every time I want a high quality viewing. I have a high-end OLED Dolby Vision TV, but the cost of the player combined with discs really hurts.
It can often be a user/setup/disc caused issue.

If the BR transfer is good, this upscales really well, regularly producing a quality picture of its own.
Especially if you're going by a $20-$30 cost!
Don't forget the other half(better imo) of the movie watching experience… sound!
Some movies don't even offer an upgrade or is included on the BR disc also!
If cost is a factor I would suggest looking at the 420, only thing you give up is DV.

I wonder if the price will drop anymore considering the tariff turmoil. I bought one 18 or so months ago for $348. Don't "need" another one at the moment, but will in the next year or so.

It's a luxury product anyway. This is a good enough price to bite. Of course, on the flip side, its price changes almost every other day. It hovers near this price often. So can't go too wrong in waiting either. Just don't expect that 'lowest ever' price too soon or too often.
