You could save even more if you Bump "down" to the Pro and pair it with a $50 Fosi amp or an old receiver you already own. That's the money combo. I use a Dayton Audio APA150 and a WiiM Pro+. If rocks the whole house.
Yes it does. It's the Wiim Amp Pro and Ultra that don't work with AirPlay: https://www.wiimhome.com/wiimamp/overview

So I have a dilemma. Our house we bought and moved into had some high end audio system installed but back from 1999. Every room has a pair of ceiling speakers. They were all
Connected via Ethernet and audio cables two sets one are red and other are grey one for both right and left. Anyways I bought 6 Amazon echo amps when they were on sale many years ago for 200 bucks each. I have a few more rooms I want to finish now but they don't make that anymore. Can I add this in another room and when I want to do whole house music can I link this amp in with the other amps. That was my easy solution vs trying to figure out how to link them all centrally and fishing wire or running new wire was not an option. Thanks

How do you do multiroom audio with the Echo amps? I'm guessing for your use case you could use this WiiM or really any Amp, and connect it with an Amazon Echo device that has an Aux out.

I don't have experience with specifically the Wiim Amp, but I have experience with WiiM Pro Plus and the WiiM Mini. Overall, this company makes good hardware, but one needs to acknowledge that they can be bug prone. I had bluetooth-out issues with all of them, and I could see pages and pages of folks complaining about various bugs on their forums. To give them credit, WiiM does seem to be responsive and doles out firmware updates pretty regularly (and they are mostly bug-fixes rather than new features). But at the same time, if you are unfortunate and get impacted by a certain bug, there is no telling when and if it'll get fixed. For example, my bluetooth issues are still unresolved and after multiple rounds of testing and reports from other users on their forums, I'm convinced 'it's them, not me'. Eventually, I gave up and resorted to hard-wiring via an aux-cable.
On a positive note, their customer support has been stellar. I purchased a WiiM Remote, and one fine day, Alexa stopped working. I couldn't figure out why. After all sorts of testing and repeated set up, I figured the remote's mic is dead (the system is supposed to support basic commands without Alexa, and even those wouldn't work). I reached out to them, and they shipped me a replacement. The replacement worked immediately with Alexa voice commands. So I indeed had a faulty mic on my original remote.

what's the diff between this and the ultra?

Ultra isn't an amp, just the streaming side

Funny. I read your comment and was pretty sure it was wrong, but before replying, I went to Wiim's website to verify and make sure I wasn't going to be the one spreading misinformation. I guess that 2 minute window was precisely when you corrected your comment.

What issue did you personally have with the Sound Quality?
This amp has been independently tested by ASR and has amazing sound quality.

That's interesting! My tests were less scientific and I kept purchasing WiiM upgrades in hopes sound quality would improve if I spent more, but they all sounded worse. I simply kept switching between my old Sonos Connect: Amp and the WiiMs. If you find some youtube reviews, you'll see similar findings.
