I do travel internationally a couple times a year and the largest plan (I think it's $65/mo) covers unlimited international data. To not have to worry about getting a SIM in whatever country I'm in is a big time savings. I do like that part of it.
New Google Fi owner or new Google Fi user?
I owned Google Fi once, and my spouse used Google Fi with her Google account.
Could my spouse be a new customer? Or Google check with the Google account?
That said, Fi has traditionally had much better Android support/integration, since it was built by/for Google phones. You don't get a free watch line and you don't get the network switching on iPhones, but not sure the network switching really matters anymore like it did with Sprint/TMo. Seems like the only reason you would use Fi on an iPhone is either if you're on a shared plan with an Android person, or you just wanted a TMo MVNO with prioritized data (AFAIK they are the only MVNO with postpaid priority)
(Visible has watch plans, but only for Apple watches. US Mobile also has watch plans but only free with Unlimited Premium)
That may sound like bigotry, but I'm purely talking about my ability to communicate with them and their ability to solve problems. I had an issue with a pixel phone screen that was covered under an extended warranty, and none of them knew what I was talking about. Getting it actually fixed, took hours and hours of free time to get them to actually cover it despite being a fully documented problem that Google covered with their extended warranty and sending them links to said warranty.
I have since moved to an iPhone after being on android for about 15 years, even though iPhones are worse, the customer service surrounding them is 1 million times better. I'm currently looking for other phone service providers as well
- Most call centers are in India, and I've never had trouble understanding them, even as a non-native speaker.
- Customer service agents often can't solve anything beyond basic requests. If you're facing a complex issue, ask for a manager.
- Comparing iPhones to MVNOs is unfair. Apple isn't a MVNO, and their support is far superior.
I've had experience with several providers, including Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, their agents were also generally based in India, and they struggled to resolve tech issues that weren't simple fixes, taking hours to sort out complex problems.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
Nearly every time there's a phone service deal, somebody posts "what are the taxes on this" as if anyone who doesn't live in their neighborhood could answer. If someone has $8 per month per line taxes then that's what the government collects in that locale no matter who the provider. Your mileage will vary. This is why the reps can't answer. Call VZW and they won't answer either. They'll also tell you it varies by location.

If the provider doesn't publish the fees online, and their customer service representative wont tell you what the taxes/fees are, given your address, where is one supposed to get that information? You don't ever get information from internet search and forums where people discuss their experiences?
I am not out to thrash Google Fi or you.. I was here because I wanted to get this deal, and I wanted to make sure what my monthly payment would be if I get this deal.
In case you didn't know some providers publish their prices with taxes/fees. Please check out US Mobile or Visible plans. At least some plans from Cricket and T-mobile lists "including taxes/fees". I almost got this deal before I realized the taxes/fees may make this far worse experience for me - that is what I mentioned in my response. Even with that taxes and fees it may still be worth it for others (unlimited data in US/Canda/Mexico, free watch data for some watches, etc.) Not for me, not with that yet-to-be-disclosed taxes and fees.
Add a line $8
= $23
It's not my fault you can't read their webpage, where it clearly shows $23 for 2 lines and 5GB, as I said:
