Good price for it. The problem with this and the LotR set are the cheap packaging boxes. The chance of broken tabs/latches or disc falling off the holder is high. It's a shame since the Extended LotR Blu-ray box set has some of the best (sturdy) Blu-ray boxes I've seen but those are not used again.

Completely agree. I have this set and the LOTR 4k set and both arrived with nearly all the discs loose. Luckily, no major damage. The discs regularly work themselves free while on shelf. A big enough irritation that I'm shifting to the Steelbooks.

i know this is 4K version, but i dont have a 4k player yet. I can still put this into my blu-ray player and it should work as a normal blu-ray? I really should upgrade, but we're pinching pennies for a new house.

Unfortunately you cannot play 4k UHD on regular blu-ray players

I recall buying the LOTR trilogy on Blu-Ray for about $10 many years ago thanks to a Slickdeals post (I also have this super old DVD box sets complete with special case). I was waiting for a significant price drop before upgrading to 4K disc release since I heard the visuals are amazing, but while waiting for a price drop, jumped on the Microsoft Rewards deal earlier this year to get the UHD streaming versions for all 6 LOTR/Hobbit films using points. I'll probably just stick with the digital versions I have as it'd be triple-dipping over 20+ years at this point if I were to buy this, and I don't watch the films often enough to drop more than $20 for an upgrade now. Still a great deal for the true fans, as I believe this is the lowest this 4K disc set has gone. I'm sure they'll release more collector and special editions of these movies in the future to milk more money out of the franchise.
