For those large size bolts, I would prefer 6 point.

I had a Dewalt ratchet that started to malfunction and getting a replacement one from Dewalt was very easy, a couple of emails and I got a new one mailed to me. Is Craftsman as easy as that?

I broke a craftsman socket, and took it to Lowes and they replaced it with a new one no questions asked.

Ok I bit when this dropped from 99 to 85, but canceling due to the limited 1/2" socket sizes.
I loved Sears, but I fully understand why they went under.
Returned a socket wrench once. Dude (giant smile) didn't even check mine, opened this drawer full of them, and pulled out another. Still works.
Earlier in thread it sounds like Lowe's will do this for you now? I have wondered if the guarantee followed along with the name, but always figured it was, at best, at Lowe's discretion.

anyone member when you could walk into Sears and just get a replacement on the spot?
I had friends in the trades that would buy Craftsman hand tools exclusively, for this reason alone. One buddy purchased a tape measure once, and got new tape measures more times than I could count when something would go wrong with it. As an old boss used to say "that's a going out of business plan!", and it was in this case.
