Perhaps by using same channel, the end device will have to quickly jump onto the strongest transceiver? vs 2 separate channels that have similar strength thus end device have trouble picking when to jump channel or bouncing back-n-forth between 2 transceivers continuously? Just speculating on my part.

on 5Ghz a few gaming laptops, few school laptops , smart phones
on 2.4Ghz 30+ Wi-Fi cams, sensors, meters, printer, etc.
I'd say low-ping 5Ghz and range is more important than bandwidth....
