The Good...This thing is pretty good on carpets, AMAZING suction. The vacuum part is very good on carpets and hard wood floors.
The Bad.... The mop is not the greatest AND while it detects a carpet it increases the suction power, it does not avoid carpet when the mop attachment is on. And mop just drags, actually mop is pretty bad unless you set it to max water usage (only can be done in app) and then it actually gets rid of streaks, foot prints and very light dirt.
Conclusion... this is one of the best deals at $180. If you have alot of carpet and you really only care about the vacuum... this is amazing. If you have mix of carpet or rugs on hard wood floor I don't think I would get this model.
While the mop goes on carpets, you can set "no go zones" but that just sounds too difficult.
I have all hardwood and I am willing to pay more for a better mop.

What's the best Roborock model that is less than $500 and is good for mopping as well?

I am tempted to get this, but the post above recommending Q5 pro makes me pause.
Don't listen to those haters.... Q8 is BETTER then Q7 and Q7 is better then Q5.

IIRC I read that the WiFi password cannot contain special characters like !@#$%

is this still true??
My ssid password definitely has one of those characters and Roborock connects to it.

I completely agree with this. I have carpet everywhere except the kitchen and two bathrooms. I thought the mop might be nice for those areas but I wasn't clear that this model doesn't actually lift the mop head when going over carpet. So I have never even put the mop attachment on. It just seems like more work than it's worth for such little space to actually mop. I just stick with my OCedar Promist Max spray mop with washable microfiber pads. But for the vacuum function, this thing is amazing! I replaced a Roomba i6 with this. The mapping feature of Roborock is years ahead of iRobot/Roomba. My house gets vacuumed on schedule everyday with zero issues. The Roomba would constantly get stuck in places and then I'd have to go on a hunt to find it. On the off chance the Roborock gets stuck, the map shows the exact location where it is. I don't know why I didn't switch sooner!

I have this model with the dock.
Mopping is basically just dragging water, but vacuuming handles pet hair well. Still need the Dyson sometimes.

Anyone have experience with the Roborock Q10 S5? It's only a little bit more expensive and claims to have almost twice the suction (10,000 pa vs this one with 5,500 pa).

at this point... dual rollers mean "alot" and you are not taking that into account. From what I have read... dual rollers have a larger surface area and the suction can not be as strong but they still seem to pick up more dirt then the higher sucking machines.
My advice is to start watching youtube videos or have a serious discussion with my girlfriend... SaraGBT.

I have a similar model and the mop is pretty much useless. i I used the mop a few times just to test it and it's basically just a wep rag that drags water around, doesn't really do anything but leave streaks behind. The actual vacuum is awesome tho, helps with keeping the pet hair at bay and I only need to break out the big boy vacuum when I need to do a deep cleaning.

Roborock has a million models. How does this compare to Q7 L5 at the same price? All I can see is that one has higher suction (8000 MPa vs 55 Mpa).

Bought this deal. This thing vacuums up large pieces that gets stuck in its black and red cleaning brushes. However, it doesn't alert you something is stuck in it and just keeps vacuuming sucking up nothing. Is this normal or a defective unit?
