This is newer, powers 9 channels internally, 2 independent sub outs, includes Dirac Live and access to DLBC.

This is 3+ years newer, supports 2 additional surround channels, and features HDMI 2.1a (vs 2.1 which had firmware fixes and some still don't trust that it will deliver full speed on 2.1) do note however that this is a 100 watts per channel (with 2 driven at 8ohm as most receivers market their power) the inflated watts on the site are for 1 channel driven at 6ohms which is highly misleading.

Unless it is significantly cheaper or you really really *really* like Yamaha sound there is no reason to go for the Yamaha over this at this price.

does it make sense to use this only 2 channel plus 1 or 2 subwoofers? I just want room correction, quality sound from ab amp, and about 100 watts per channel.

it seems that integrated amps with similar power and less features sell for 500+ so it makes me think this is best way to go if you want to room correction

The HDMI out module on my Yamaha TSR-7850 just went out. Lasted about 6-years, would have liked to have gotten a few more years out of it... Looks like this may be a good replacement, any feedback on reliability?

Had a lightning strike take out my Onkyo TX-NR646 receiver and TV a few weeks ago. Started shopping for receivers and am having sticker shock. Seeing very few deals over the past 2 weeks. Is this a good price? Is This a reputable seller? Mainly looking for something for a smallish living room with 5.1 setup and zone2 for porch speakers. Old Onkyo was meeting needs until it blew. Saw a Sony AN1000 in another post for $598. I have a new Sony TV. Any other recommendations? Can wait if better deals are likely to pop up.

If you're after Dirac Live room correction the Integra 3.4 for $569 is the least expensive. Keep in mind Dirac Live doesn't include their subwoofer correction. This at this price is the least expensive that offers access to it.

This is fairly new but their prior model(RZ50) is 4 years old and for the most part has done good so far.

So far it looks like this'll be the first month this year that they haven't dropped the 3.4 to $569. Maybe the Onkyo is the August deal instead?

If you need the new features, new makes sense. If not you might look into slightly used. With so many people going to soundbars, you can find some pretty good deals if you're patient.
