To use apple cider vinegar for fruit flies, create a trap by placing some apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap in a bowl. Fruit flies are attracted to the vinegar's smell, and the dish soap breaks the surface tension of the liquid, causing the flies to fall in and drown. For added effectiveness, you can also cover the bowl with plastic wrap, secure it with a rubber band, and poke small holes in the top to let the flies in but not out

I've tried all of the above. Never works. It catches maybe one gnat per trap. Is this product the same idea?

Just looked it up. Looks like it's the same idea

Similar idea, but I've had better luck with these. Seems to be much more effective.
