Great deal, thanks. I hadn't used the PayPal pay-in-4 offer yet so this ended up being an A+ deal using pay--in-4.

Was $699 earlier this year. Been waiting but $749 looks like the best deal after tariffs. Mine comes in Wednesday.

Yes, but with the PayPal pay-in-4 20% off promo it makes this deal the lowest. I already have the reward deposited into my PayPal account from yesterday's order and makes the RZ30 $652 after tax (for me, equivalent to 599 before tax).

Any concerns with Onkyo's troubled history with performance? Any credit card I. CAn use to get more warranty?

I currently have a a set of Paradigm monitor 9 v.5 floor standing speakers. Paradigm monitor cc-190 v.5 center speakers. I want to add a subwoofer and some surrounds in the future.

I can kinda afford the Anthem MRX but don't want to spend 1k more if it won't improve the audio quality much over this or reliability. Would appreciate the experts advice
Are you planning on buying a separate amp anyway?

if not and an extra $1000 is in your budget, I say go for the Onkyo RZ70

The anthem is better by far. It has a learning curve but it's definitely better. I chose the anthem over arcam, denon a1, c30/40, rxa8a, rz50/70 and Sony es lineups. There's definitely a tonality difference that is brought to life by anthem receivers.
Interesting...I almost went with Anthem...for my main listeing area...but I went with an Arcam pre/pro..The AV41

Interesting on why you chose the Anthem?
I honestly didnt demo the Anthem in my home
The salesman that sold me the Arcam actually owned the same unit and they had it in stock

I also own the Maranta Cinema 30 and Integra 8.4
I dont consider them on the line of Arcam

I ordered the RZ30 a week ago from another site for $799. I couldn't resist today's opportunity to save a net $200 so I did it right with Pay-in-4 and will return the first order. Fortunately, no return shipping nor restocking fee for the first order. Phew!
Where did you get it from for 799?

FairMallard2697 clued me in on it. It was from Electronics Expo and posted on Slickdeals, but I think the deal is dead now. Just grab the current Adorama deal for $749 (or less with PayPal promo).

This was the previous EE deal link. It's an old post but the TXRZ30 code still worked a week ago. https://slickdeals.net/f/18309676-onkyo-tx-rz30-9-2-channel-network-a-v-receiver-799?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse

I demo'd the c30/40/50, rx a8a, lx305, mrx1140 and a1h in home. The rest in a closed audio studio with my same speakers(kes r5m,r3m and r6m. The arcam was just loud to me, but i preferred the marantz in the store. In home it was the anthem for me no question, followed by the yamaha then the c30/a1h. There's something special about the anthem...i never thought to give them a shot because I had the c30 as a front runner before I even bought anything. I used a variety of movies to seal the deal, but deadpool3 opening fight scene, the avengers infinity war train fight scene really did it for me.

This is a great deal if you are only needing 9.2. I'm holding out for the RZ70 to drop below 1800 again.

Having setup both, I would have to very much agree.
Both properly implemented in a home environment, the surround difference would likely be minor ime.
This should not be a surprise though.
Often the main differences between models is added features like extra channels not sound performance.

Now if all 9 of your speakers prefer/require solid power(inefficient), have a large/open environment & listen at ear piercing levels, than yes the RZ70 may be worth the over the double price.

Personally ime you're better off going external power, much better solid/clean power source & you only pay for it once.
That's one of the main advantages of going with separates(pre/pros) after all.

If you have no brand preference & after Dirac this is definitely the way to go especially at this price ime.

BTW EE still has the RZ70 under $1800($1795) and are an authorized retailer.
