When I had a 13 pro max I would plug it into my car via USB-A to use CarPlay and it would charge my phone as well.
When I bought this it burned my battery to the ground. Expected, BUT, what was unexpected as plugging my phone usb-c to lightening and it still having issues keeping up w/wireless CarPlay. ?!?!?!
I ditched it and went back to USB-A as what was gained from wirelessly doing it? Nothing! Nothing at all! I guess better than nothing if I didn't have a wired path but I'd probably still done without

This. I was ALL EXCITED to use CarPlay and never have to take my phone out of my pocket. And for the most part, it WAS great while using CarPlay… but then my phone was ALWAYS dead during awkward times of the day, even though my phone was new. Stopped using it completely after it a couple of months, haven't used it since.
This worked a lot better than $30-$40 adapters from other brands. Paid about $9 a few months ago. It's not perfect. But believe me, even my native wireless Apple car play on my own car refuses to connect randomly. It works flawlessly for my wife's Sonata. Definitely recommend it.

so does this turn a standard LCD radio panel into car play for iphones? OR does it need a specific LCD panel radio to work with?
Asking cause I have an 07 Suburban with the large factory 2din LCD stereo set up.
I've had this in my wife's Toyota since January.
The only time it has not worked properly was after I added my phone profile to it.
I reset it and since then only my wife's phone connects to it.
Seems to work great with just one profile.

yeah this is the big drawback, you still need to plug your phone in to charge it because using wireless carplay eats a tremendous amount of battery life. so if you're already plugging in your phone, what's the point? unless maybe you have a charging pad in your car? but those are quite inefficient, generate a lot of heat and aren't great for your battery life.

The car needs to have wired CarPlay already. This just makes the connection wireless.
How does it deal with two phones? I have a decent adapter already, but it is always looking for the wrong phone if using two profiles.
I don't think these things have profiles. They just look for the last device and need pairing everyone, devices is switched. I ordered this, will see how out does.
