The TCL QM8K is a bright, feature packed Mini LED TV that stands out in sunlit rooms and for Google TV flexibility. It is described as handling glare through sheer brightness, with vivid mode and roughly 3000 effective nits, and it adds an ATSC 3.0 tuner plus strong app compatibility. The glossy screen can still raise reflection concerns in very bright spaces, and some comparisons favor Samsung's matte finish or Sony's longer track record. Pricing also moved around, with reports of the 75 inch model at $1500, earlier lows near $1400, and a recent drop to $1299.

  • The QM8K can handle extremely bright living rooms using vivid mode brightness.

  • The QM8K's Google TV platform can improve app compatibility for streaming and smart features.

  • The QM8K can reduce reflection concerns in daylight viewing compared with expectations for glossy screens.

  • The QM8K includes an ATSC 3.0 tuner that supports future-proofing for over-the-air viewing.

  • Dolby Vision support can be a deal-breaker for some shoppers when choosing between TCL and Samsung options.

  • The QM8K's glossy screen can still show reflections, and tilting the TV may be needed to manage glare.

  • Samsung EPP ordering can create long delays and unhelpful support, which can complicate comparisons for buyers using that program.

  • The posted deal price can drop quickly, with the QM8K reported at $1299 at major retailers.

I would like to update my 2016 hisense 65" to this TCL or the LG B series OLED. I worry about burn in on the OLED. They are both the same price so I am wondering if anyone can come the two. It would be mainly for sports and movies. A small amount of gaming
if you have a light controlled room /will be watching at night then the OLED is the way to...especially the B series as it does not get very bright

If you are in a room with lights/windows I think you will be happier with the TCL in this thread

Is this the best QM8K deal around? Disappointed with this year's Superbowl TV deals. Was hoping for a 85" QM8K under 1500 USD. None around.

Probably been asked before, but I'm torn between the QM8K and the QN90F for a very bright room (sun streaks through transom windows everyday). I have an order with Samsung EPP for an 85" QN90F, but it won't be delivered until 2/21. So I get to second guess myself for a month.
It seems like the QM8K overcomes glare with shear brightness whereas the QN90F has a matte surface that eliminates glare at the expense some color and contrast. For those who may have a QM8K in a bright room, do you notice the glossy finish at all? Thanks!
I've tried to buy TV's from the Samsung EPP program before, it's always been a nightmare. Order would be "delayed" for months, and calls to their customer service were useless. They would swear that they would "escalate" the ticket to their supervisor, but the order delivery date would come and go with no action. The only way I was ever able to get a TV from them was to order it and pick it up from a local Best Buy. Horrible customer service.
Having said that, I was able to get their sound bar at a good price and have it delivered (part of a package deal with the TV). So this might be a one time thing where I got really lucky with the soundbar but incredibly unlucky with the TV.

Amazing TV. Replaced a Sony OLED in an extremely bright living room.
Any issues with reflection light from window?

Buy both and return the one you don't like. I did this for QN90D and QM8K, the QN90D does much better in a bright room for the content I watch. Very easy return process for Amazon/Costco/Bestbuy/Walmart. The QN90D has a glossy finish, so it doesn't soak up the light and make blacks look light. However, glossy doesn't handle reflections well, easy to overcome direct reflections by tilting the TV up slightly. To my eyes, it looked light the blacks on the QM8K were a brownish red when next to the QN90D in a bright room.
