I really like mine and find when I am breaking down a lot of boxes for recycling I end up using this and the utility knife both. The more you use it the more you learn strengths/weaknesses.

It's great for appliances and niche stuff, but as for small electronics like this, it's unnecessary and yessir considered outdated due to changes of standard, which you might need to update yourself with.
