FYI: if you have a Menards nearby, they carry one basically identical to this, but with USB-C charging so you don't need a dedicated charger for it.
They're also only $15.

Damn, just bought this on Amazon for ~$40. No regrets though, great product, cuts boxes in seconds. It's one of the top rated electric scissors tested by Project Farms on YouTube.

I don't know if it's worth $15 but the one from Amazon comes with an extra blade and storage bag.

Ewww electronics with proprietary charger, what is this 2005?
My first thought. I've got a Black and Decker one that has a USB C charging port. It sticks/jams up while trying to cut thick cardboard, but goes through your typical shipping boxes from Amazon/Walmart/etc easily.

Are these that much easier than utility knife?
I have had one for a couple years and use it regularly. I would say for normal boxes it is slightly easier than a utility knife, as well as a bit safer. However, when I'm doing a lot of thicker boxes my hands do get tired using this. This also works well to open plastic blister packages.

I really like mine and find when I am breaking down a lot of boxes for recycling I end up using this and the utility knife both. The more you use it the more you learn strengths/weaknesses.

Yep. Definitely gotta help 'push' it through fairly hard when it comes to thicker cardboard (like double corrugated stuff), to the point where it's probably just better to use a sharp utility knife... but for most everything else it's better/safer than a utility knife.

Based on a project farm review I just speedwatched. I think a fresh utility knife blade will beat it out most of the time. These are better than an old utility knife blade though, but life is too short not to keep a fresh one in with how cheap they are.

Were you born in 2005? Its a barrel jack, you can get a replacement charger on amazon for $7. Its not proprietary in the slightest.

I'm not offended, nor am i assuming your age, I'm using your date that you gave because you think this is "old stuff". A barrel plug isn't some out dated plug like you think, maybe educate yourself before you come in here complaining about some problem that doesn't exist with this product.

Jfc if barrel plug is not phasing out then why you seeing it less for newly produced small electronics, let alone they have different sizes of plugs that you need to identify.
It's great for appliances and niche stuff, but as for small electronics like this, it's unnecessary and yessir considered outdated due to changes of standard, which you might need to update yourself with.
And suggest ppl to spend $7 for charger replacement for shit like this, are you serious?

I have two pairs of these and use them all of the time. They are great for cutting cardboard. I use mine all of the time to cut down boxes for recycling.

What standard are you referencing that I should update myself on? What standard should these have and why?

You are rambling like you have no idea what you are talking about and it's pretty obvious you don't.

You are the one making the claim that this is outdated and is being removed yet you have nothing to back it up.
You act like this should only exist in 2005, yet it's still widely used today.

You made the claim this uses a proprietary charger, that is wrong, I simply pointed out one option for buying another charger on Amazon.

Isn't it a great time to "educate yourself"? 😏 Last time I check Google is not oudated.
If you know so much about barrel jack and you still don't mind it, I got nothing to say. Talking to the ackchyually ppl like you is exhausting, and usually nothing will convince you

You haven't even tried to convince me. I'm not the one that needs education as I can explain how you are wrong with concrete examples and links. When I asked you to explain what standard you are referring to you could only tell me to Google it because you are making stuff up, you can't even tell me what to Google because you have no idea.
You are tried of talking to me because you are wrong and don't know how to spin it so you are right. I've asked you to prove me wrong, you can't. I've shown you how you are wrong and all you can say is "$7 for a charger are you serious".
Care to try again?

Sure, since you're so "eager to learn":
First of all I'm talking about charger, not including the barrel jacks as DC power connections.
Barrel jacks have multiple sizes/diameters, and were not standardized so every big brand has their own versions. If you're old enough, then you should have plenty frustrating experiences of trying to find the right charger for different electronics.
Microusb charger didn't come out until about whatever year after 2005 (kindly remind you that's 20 freaking years ago), which that I bought my very last cellphone that used barrel jack charger.
Starting 2022 EU adopted new rules starting to standardize usbc for charging port, aiming to reduce e-waste. California followed that some years after.
Now tell me, how the fark can someone justify invest into sth backward, especially for a mid level tool.

The time you spent on typing "you blah blah blah" would be more than sufficient for you to Google stuff. Who's the wrong one now, bet you not still not happy and will find sth else to yap about...

edit: just cuz sth is still commonly used doesn't mean it's not phasing out, like the car lighter sockets, now are you gonna defend that too?
