For custom ROM support look for phones with Qualcomm SoC, Moto G 2024, Moto Edge 2024 being two recent phones with LineageOS support.

IMO no. The 2024 has a faster CPU/GPU. The 2025 I think has a couple small upgrades but not enough to overcome the lower end chipset it and the 2026 has.

I appreciate you pointing out the phone on ebay but it appears that it only has a 90 day warranty, although you can get an extended 1 year for approx $20 more.

So you do you need to activate the plan with visible to use the phone or can you just use it with any carrier? How much of a pain in the butt would it be to replace the battery at a later date?

No need to use the visible plan. Phone is unlocked so you can activate with any provider.

Coincidentally, I'm having a bad experience with this seller as well. I ordered a bluetooth S pen replacement for my Galaxy Tab S9 cuz my son lost the original one and they sent me the FE version which is not bluetooth enabled even though their listing clearly states the correct model number as that is how I searched the ebay listings. As security updates was my primary concern about this phone, from what I gathered, this will only be updated to Android 15 and come with 3 years of security updates which are essentially released bi-monthly into early 2027, I could not locate the exact month for the last security update.
