The TX RZ30 is a strong value 9 channel AVR for Atmos setups, especially if you want Dirac room correction and dual independent sub outs. It is repeatedly framed as a better fit than pricier Denon and Yamaha alternatives when you do not need more than 9 channels, and the included calibration is praised for improving sound after setup. The main cautions are extra Dirac costs for Bass Control, a learning curve, and recurring concern about Onkyo HDMI reliability and shipping or warranty hassles. A solid pick for a modern 5.1.4 or 5.2.4 system if those tradeoffs fit.

Does this have a programmable remote?
Does the app let me create a button that turns on or off a few things and switch inputs?
Checking the manuals, the 30, 50, and 70 all seem to have only basic remotes, unlike old models.

Banana plugs should work with 99% of binding posts in today's mass market AVRs.
You'd think that...but look how many cheaper AVRs come with spring clips now-a-days. I *HATE* those damned things.

Looks like a good upgrade from my decade old Denon with a fried HDMI board, purchased!!
In a similar situation. Have a Denon 1910 about 15yrs old; still working fine though but no 4K or eArc or HDMI 2.1; thinking of upgrading ...remember Onkyo used to run hot those days, not sure if those are still an issue.

If this is really true, it's a deal breaker.

Quote from Acclimate View quoted comment :
Mine is in the shop right now after developing an issue after just a few months. The worst part is that Onkyo requires you to pay to ship their products yourself to a service center even when under warranty, and these things are not small or light, so shipping is quite expensive.
I've always bought Denon in the past. This was my first Onkyo. I'm going back to Denon next time. Not that they're perfect -- the only reason I bought the Onkyo in the first place was the Denon completely dying after about 5 years.

Isn't it the same with Denon repair under warranty as well and pretty much with others? unless you have one of their repair/service center nearby, the buyer pays for shipping the unit.

This won't run any hotter. If you have no brand preference and don't need more than 9 channels. This is a solid deal at this price, hard to beat ime.

I'd feel a whole lot better if this was for sale locally.... like at Best Buy where I could put a warranty on it so I didn't have to pay for shipppng if something went wrong. As somebody mentioned earlier, these things aren't light and are expensive to ship.

Agreed. Unfortunately, Best Buy doesn't have this (they only have it via Electronics Expo). I did asked if they would price match but nope. Adorama is not on their PM retailer list. Did check with Abt as well but no luck.

In case this helps, Citi Double Cash and many other Citi cards extend your warranty for 2 years.

They do sell it at Best Buy. Since stores may have it in stock, but they definitely have it to ship to you. 12 days ago I also tried to price match Best Buy through their online chat and also calling customer service. Both said that adorama is not on their list of places that they price match to, but the stores have more flexibility for price matching and might do it. I went to the store the next day and they priced matched to adorama with no problem. They had a display, but didn't have one to sell, but they shipped me one and I received it the next day. I went to Best Buy to buy this, because of the people on here saying that they received used ones or ones that didn't work and the big hassle it was to deal with adorama.

For only 9 channels, In my experience, no not really.
Generally speaking, the extra power is a minimal advantage in real world use.

I've set this up with a 9 channel Primes & drove them with no problem at average listening levels.

Imo I would spend the extra $200 on DLBC or improving a weak link speaker(s) if you have one.
why is the NR7100 more expensive than the RZ30?

I'm going to see if BB will price match today. I can confirm dealing with adorama customer service is a nightmare.
