It works only with Samsung phones using the smart things app. Airtags have ultra wide band . Only android tag to have ultra wide are the moto tags I believe

All Galaxy Smarttags 2 have ultrawide band. Even the first generation had a model with it, the Smarttag+. (Source: I own the 2 and 1+)

FYI, Smart tag 2 actually do have Ultra wide band. I believe you are right about it only works with Samsung phones, and not only that, i think it only works with the premium models as far as UWB. I have Samsung Ultra galaxy S23, and it works when i turn on UWB.

You can download the Utag app and it works on any android phone.
