Anyone have experience with this vest compared to the CAP Barbell ones that are frequently on sale for less? Are these worth the extra few bucks?

Yes, they're a bit better, mainly because you now have solid iron weights instead of those sandbags that tend to rip.

This was on sale for ~$83 the other week so this is an even better deal with the added coupon.

EDIT: Also, these allegedly have a lifetime warranty, so there's that in case it falls apart. I don't believe the CAP ones have any warranty, and if so, definitely not lifetime.

how comfortable is this vest? I was thinking sand is better that it would be more comfortable?
