I bought this in June of 2021. I got this for $90 with a $29 coupon at the time. It has served my family up until Dec 2024, when I purchased the bigger Gourmia French Door 6 slicer for $57. The reason for the retirement is because if you don't keep up with cleaning it, the grease cakes up over time. Tried using a degreaser but it was not that effective. It did not affect the cooking of any food item. The gourmia has been used mainly for toast at this point and the French doors accumulate condensation on the inside while cooking and steam comes from between the top of the doors. Doesn't affect anything but is kinda annoying to see. I actually still have the Panasonic by my door with a note saying "it's still good but needs a cleaning" to be taken out. Maybe someone else can work their magic on it. I recommend this item.

I bought one of these year ago, and loved it so much that when the ex decided to take it with her, I bought another immediately. My favorite thing about these is that there is no point in preheating. The IR cooking gets hot nearly immediately and it gives a really even cook. This is 100% worth the money.

The information I read said that there needs to be at least four inches distance between the back of the unit and the wall to avoid burning the wall or other nearby objects. Does the unit get that hot due to the IR cooking to require this? Have you had any problems when the toaster is near other objects?

Ours has been an inch from the back wall for years. 😬

We were given this toaster oven when we got married back in 2014. This was the one thing that I insisted on registering for; my wife had her heart set on getting a toaster as well despite my insistence that this toaster oven can also make toast.
It is now 12 years later and the flash xpress is the most used appliance in our kitchen. It makes great toast; the traditional toaster she insisted on is collecting dust in the cabinet having only been used once. We also use it to reheat food more often than the microwave.
The infrared is really what sets this toaster oven apart from other options. It does a great job of uniformly cooking food because whatever the light touches gets cooked. You'd think that Mufasa designed it. I also like that when the lamp turns off, there isn't a lot of residual heat, so you can reach in and grab your food without burning the hair off of your knuckles.

I would say yes, I have a burnt/melted wall socket plate from keeping it too close.

I've had this toaster for over a decade, it's the best!

I remember reading that this thing is the absolute best toaster you can buy, so I bought it. It is. It's fantastic for toasting and certain other functions like reheating/cooking frozen hashbrown patties. Great for broiling.

The only thing it does not do that well is a general oven replacement, at least not in my experience. The IR light can be too intense for some things directly. For reheating pizza slices, for instance, you absolutely need to cover them with foil, or they will char pretty quickly.

Other than that, I love the thing, and we've been using ours for about 5 years. I remember the reviews saying that the part which fails the most is the little spring behind the on/off switch. So, I just leave that on and plug it in when needed, and we do pull it away from the wall (and out from under the upper cabinets) before use because it does put out a good bit of heat. It doesn't weigh much, so it's easy to maneuver.
