This had a ton of issues, but they have been fixed with firmware, so make sure you update that first thing. It has grown into a wonderful router.

BestBuy has the same price if you want to pick up locally. I was scanning through the reviews, a lot of 1 star regarding issues with stability. Wonder any users can give some inputs about this router, especially with Merlin.

I'm still using a T-Mobile Personal CellSpot which is almost 12 years old, but it's running great with wrt-Merlin.

Shaky issues complained about in Amazon reviews seem fixed with firmware updates, which should be mandatory immediately when you put in a new router in any case. Price history seems to be in a good spot and this model can use extra-featured third-party Asus-Merlin firmware.

Unfortunately the TMO router and it's Asus original equivalent have been out of Merlin updates for a long time now. Which means any security issues won't be fixed. I've been looking for something to replace those old routers with.

I replaced 2 of the TMO routers with 2 of these (purchased used from Amazon Warehouse). My 1st step was to install Merlin and use the mesh. No trouble since BF 2025.

Best Buy also offers an extra 15% off if you bring an old router in to recycle, so you can save even more if you have an old unused router sitting around somewhere.

I bought this router last fall and immediately put Merlin FW on it. It has been pretty solid and has a much more stable signal then my AX3000 or AC68U did before.

Asus makes great router, but with this price I would get a lastest GL.iNet GL-BE9300 (Flint 3) at even lower cost.

I'm having Flint 2 at a different place and satisfied with it.

Netgear is a great alternative with dd-wrt or Flint 2 or Flint 3

Holding out on Flint 4. Installed Fresh Tomato on Netgear r7000 to hold me over. Flint 2 is a great router also.
