The real deal here is the Open Box Excellent for $783. I have this laptop and it's great. You won't get a thinner, lighter 16" laptop, and the display is beautiful. No complaints.
The Zenbook S 16 stands out as a thin, light 16 inch laptop with a gorgeous 120 hertz OLED touch display, strong Ryzen AI performance, and useful ports like USB A and HDMI. It handles productivity, media, coding, and even light gaming well, with fast login through Windows Hello and a solid keyboard and touchpad. Heat and fan noise are the main concern, especially under heavier loads, though firmware updates and lower power settings have helped some units run cooler and quieter. Open box condition varies a lot, so packaging, wear, and SSD usage are worth checking closely. A strong all around Windows alternative if OLED and portability matter most.
People who prioritize a vivid OLED screen for movies and reading, because the 120Hz 3K panel is repeatedly described as beautiful and eye-catching.
Mobile professionals wanting a thin 16-inch work laptop, because it stays fast for productivity, web, and media while remaining comfortable at lower power.
Mostly stationary buyers needing a desktop-replacement laptop, because it is thin enough for the couch yet still feels solid and handles heavy multitasking well.
Gamers wanting sustained high-performance play, because the slim chassis can throttle under power-hungry workloads and the integrated graphics are only modest.
Use HWiNFO64 or CrystalDiskInfo to inspect the NVMe drive's total time on, power cycles, and bytes written. Very high power-on hours or extreme power-cycle counts can indicate a floor model or unusually heavy prior use.
For browsing, media, and productivity, it can run comfortably and often stays quiet, especially after firmware updates and with MyASUS set away from the highest performance mode. Heat and fan noise can still show up with gaming or other power-hungry workloads, where throttling is more likely.
Condition varies a lot: some open-box units arrive essentially new with original packaging and low SSD hours, while others come dirty, scratched, missing the original box, or even with loose panels and damaged lids. Store pickup seems safer than shipped open-box, and checking the unit in-store before leaving helps.
No, it uses integrated graphics rather than a dedicated GPU. It can handle light gaming and integrated-graphics workloads well, but demanding games may be limited by the slim chassis and power limits.
The 16-inch 120Hz 3K OLED touch display is repeatedly described as beautiful and eye-candy, with strong preference over standard IPS panels for content viewing. One concern raised is a possible screen-door effect, but other owners report not noticing anything weird on the screen.
Placed an order for a open box fair for pickup. When arrived at a BestBuy location 35 miles away and saw that fair condition laptop, way disappointed, it was bare laptop with dirt and scratches on it all over.
Asked the person to look for another laptop in good condition which I knew they had as it was showing online.
He brought a good condition (literally like new, original box and charger) and when he ringed it, the price still came up as $725+tax.
Great deal if you can locate one. Thanks OP!!
Just picked up a fair condition open box, ran hwinfo to see it had 2680 hours along with 14613 power cycles. Guessing it was a floor model. Crazy, will be returning.

Mine had 23hrs with 412 power cycles. I think I got lucky.

So it was used for the equivalent of one day and was turned off and on 412 times? What was the previous owner doing?!?! That's some crazy weird numbers.

The 2680 hours is about 110 days straight. So that would be fair for a floor model, but what in the heck is 14613 power cycles? Floor models are left on all the time, usually even when the store is closed and typically have low power cycles. That number of power cycles equates to about 133 power cycles per day, everyday. Hard to explain that one! I would return also...
Even though the one I got is like new, I noticed Wifi getting disconnected when using it on my home Wifi at different locations in home. It used to disconnect and won't connect again after multiple attempts (probably switching to another mesh point in home).
For anyone who is facing similar issue, following fix worked for me-
Disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
In Device Manager ->Wi-Fi adapter ->Power Management tab Uncheck the box ->Apply ->Restart Device.

Yes, I guess it's a bit more, I think power cycles probably includes all the restarts happened to it prior to original packaging and during all the resets etc. I also noticed that the warranty was activated 35 days ago so someone probably used it for two weeks return window before taking it back to BestBuy.
I am going to use it and check everything for another 12 days to make sure having no other issues. If all stays good then I plan to keep it.

If it got stuck in a boot loop and nobody noticed....well it would do that.

I couldnt find any OB in my area to check out, didn't want to chance openbox shipped.
I got it brand new. Coming from a Dell 13.3", enjoying the extra screen real estate.
Really nice build quality.
Same weight as my 8yr old Dell but thinner.
Going to run g helper soon and kill all the AI apps
Maybe could have held out for 32gb ram/ dedicated graphics but I'm happy with my purchase.
On the lookout for any overheating
