So does the cover not actually attach?

It's not hinged if that's what you mean. It sits over it more for protection and while in use it rests on the backside of it with 2 hooks.

I have the same cover and I wouldn't use it as a cover while in use.

The style with the hinged cover is better.

Can these be used on a covered patio? Patio is open on two sides and covered on top. Would like to cook outside more, but curious if smoke/splatter would end up in the ceiling/windows. I am a newbie at this, so be nice. Smilie

I've been using a Blackstone almost continuously for a couple years and I ended up buying a universal, generic hinging cover with about 8 inches of clearance. So I can close it while cooking and it really helps cook faster, melt better, etc. I'm not a fan of this flat hardcover. Wait for a $200 deal on one without the cover, IMO.

Didn't even know aftermarket hinged covers for Blackstones were a thing. Thank you sir, enjoy the rep.

I wasn't either then randomly got one in an auction. It's not a snug fit so OEM is better but if you can find a good deal, it's nice having a cover you can actually cook with

Price history seems to indicate that this has been the price for years. Am I missing something ?
Also, the 36 inch Omnivore with Hinged hood and cover is available in store at Costco for $399. Item 1934226.

I'm a grilling/outdoor cooking fanatic. You definitely want the lid to be on a hinge. With the splatter, etc, plus expediting cooking time, you want an easy way to open/shut the lid. But, just my opinion.

Friend of mine has had this model for about 3 years now. Pretty easy to clean and maintain if you just make sure to wipe and season it while it's still warm. It doesn't quite get hot enough for a true sear and you'll want to learn to move around your food more often to keep an even temperature (cool food on a hot griddle cools the top, so "rotate" where you're cooking to keep your cook times consistent).

That said, it's his go to for just about everything except steaks and fish, now. Pancakes, bacon, sausage, grilled cheese, smash burgers, hibachi, wontons, brats, crunch wraps... we even used it as a shallow deep frier to do pork tenderloins by lifting one edge.

Blackstone support specifically recommended not leaving the lid on when cooking because of the potential to warp or crack the surface, so his always hangs off the back. Except for days where it is cold and windy or precipitating, it gets used year-round and almost daily during the summer, so it's well worth $300 even if that's not a huge discount.
