Yes, that's silly. You don't want to use the same blades for a table saw and miter saw. You want high hook angle teeth for the table saw to hold the material down to the table and low or negative hook angle teeth for the miter saw so the blade doesn't pull itself down into your cut. I think it would be a real rarity for me to share blades between them.

I've been waiting for a good deal on the 10" version of this since I don't think I need the 12" and with 10" I can share blades with my table saw if needed. Are those silly reasons to get the 10" over the 12"? I also thought the 12" was a decent bit bigger and heavier than the 10", but I think the 12" is only 1lb heavier and 6.5" taller.
This like sharing your tooth brush or going full tard. You never go full tard, so that's a negative ghost rider.

You can add a laser line for like 20 bucks and it's very easy guys. You just attach it with the blade

I just draw a pencil line across the board using my rafter square, then bring the blade down to test fit before I pull the trigger to make the cut. Old school process that works. Dont need no stinking laser or shadow box.
That's how I've always done it too. Dad taught me to always go in front of the mark so you can "sneak up on it" if you're worried about botching a nice piece of wood. Do the shimmy and the square to do referential cuts. Quick clamp both down square to each other (close nuff) bring the blade down onto the longer board and sneak the two boards over until the top board touches the blade. Clamp long board down, put the master board aside, repeat. Stop blocks work better, but aren't always feasible. Also get the fastcap 10,000 dollar stick (it's on sale right now for 20 bucks!) And be safer about cutting those weird tiny triangles.

I can understand that logic. Not really sure why someone would thumb down your comment tho. Bizarre

This.

The problem with lasers is that they spread out (.e.g the line becomes fuzzy) so whatever you see is not exactly what you'll get - so there are times where precision matters and where it doesn't necessarily matter. Where it matters I'm not going to trust the laser anyway, and where it doesn't matter the cuts without a laser should be good enough.

With the exception of foot print differences, is this better than the DWS779? i bought this yesterday but am considering taking it back as many reviews say this is heavy and better suited for a shop (fixed). I will be using it for home projects and do not have a shop...I will be storing in the garage and will have to pull it out and setup every time it is needed. I was even considering the DWS716 or DWS716XPS as I doubt I will be doing any cuts larger than 8".

I initially bought a DWS780 (it's the 779 with a shadow line). The clearance required in the back was so much that I had to return it. I bought the Bosch instead and have it at a permanent spot on my workbench.

Only to realize that I really don't need it and can easily get by with a circular saw. And I have several perfect 90deg crosscut sleds for my table saw.
The Bosch is a joy to use. High quality. I have it on a rolling stand now.
Thanks for the info. This sounds like an upgrade over my current setup.
