Can someone explain why they don't support a 17" laptop? The back wall of the backpack looks huge, and 40L is about 8L larger than a couple of backpacks from Jansport and North Face that do.

The laptop portion of the 40L is only like 2/3 of the back panel. The laptop portion of the 55L is the interior of the second bag which is also narrow.

I have the 2017 version of the 40L farpoint. Amazing pack!! It has held up great and is very comfortable. This looks like its for the prev gen. I believe the current gen moved the laptop sleeve from the side to the top (along with a few more tweaks).
