Yes, it has a max cutting depth of 1‑9/16" to 1‑11/16" at 90°, and the standard 2x4 is 1.5"

This Ryobi ONE plus 18 volt two tool kit is a budget cordless starter set best for light cutting and basic home projects. The circular saw is reported to handle 2 inch boards and standard 2 by 4s, and the depth setting can make a difference on thicker cuts. The jigsaw gets less detail, but blade choice is mentioned as important for cleaner results. The main caveat is that the saw can feel underpowered in real use, and the price has also shown up higher at $64.57 instead of the advertised $51.66.

Common Questions (3)

  • The saw's listed max cutting depth at 90° is about 1-9/16" to 1-11/16", which is enough for a standard 1.5" 2x4. In practice, some users report it cuts 2" boards and 2x8 work when the depth is set correctly, while others say their unit feels underpowered and won't make the cut cleanly.

  • The deal has been seen at the advertised $52 price, but some shoppers are seeing $64.57 instead, even when logged in and with no promo code field visible. If the lower price appears, it's a valid checkout price; otherwise the listing may have reverted.

  • A larger battery such as a 5Ah or 6Ah can improve the circular saw's performance. The saw is also sensitive to the depth setting, so checking the adjustment knob matters when it seems weak.

According to the specs, it should. But I have one, regulated to the dust bin, and in real use in doesn't.

Well at worst it could cut half way through then flip over to cut the other half? Care to elaborate on why you gave up on this mini saw?

What I read from internet is 7 1/2" circular saw is recommended for 2"x4" lumber especially treated wood like ground contact ones.

Check the depth setting knob. Last week I replaced the garage door jamb and even my Ryobi 4 1/2 went through 2x8.

Yes, you would have to flip over and cut from other side. I snagged a good deal on a Ridgid brushless 6.5" circular saw that cuts 2 x 4 with ease.
