See the tips below if you are having issues checking out with Costco T-mobile online.
|
When I entered the trade in phone (iphone 5c) it gave me $0 value rather than the $799 on Tlife. But when I continued to the checkout page, the Any condition promo was applied!
So I was able to get this promo on Costco having multiple EIPs on a line plus free buds. Good deal! |
|
I have Simple Choice NA and I was having the same issue where t-life was giving me the promo and going through Costco wouldn't. What I did was add the phone with trade-in promo and buds to my cart through t-life and then just check out through the Costco link. Cart will show the promo and waived connection fee. If anybody else is having this issue hope it helps.

Is it really any trade-in?
Ad says any trade-in. However, fine print has a list of acceptable trade-in models. Don't know which is right. At the current moment, only the trade-ins listed in the fine print are accepted online. No reports if things are different going through an agent.
|
@ouloat this thread is full of confusion about the "any phone" part since the fine print has a list of eligible phones. I for one was trying to trade in a G8 Thinq but only the V60 Thinq is eligible. Disappointing since they're both flagship phones from approximately the same era. This should really be in the first page:
I ended up finding an old S6 Edge with water damage in my electronics recycling bin, but was still functional enough to turn on while plugged in to obtain IMEI. I tried on three of my free lines. The ones with promo code ID210004 and ID220005 did not allow me to use the 'any condition' promo, but free line ID200008 did work. I selected water damage on the condition, and it still gave me the full credit amount. Also can confirm it stacked successfully with the free pixel ear buds promo |

Weird - it says eligible but then the plan does not have SC

Tip for getting multiple Pixel Buds 2a
|
Thanks for posting this. I could only get 1 buds discount in an order of 4. Trying to check out once (with 4 phones and 1 buds) failed for reasons I could not understand.
I ended up clicking a lot and ordering them all separately, but got stopped for verification after entering the same credit card number on another order. So I used 4 credit cards and 4 orders of 1 phone each, and was able to get free buds on every order. $90 tax for $100 costco GC, Pixel 10, and Pixel Buds 2a, is insane. Now multiply that by 4. I also discovered that the list of promotions might exclude the device connection fee while still having a $0 device connection fee and still showing the $100 Costco gift card. I connected Costco once and then logged in to T-Mobile repeatedly (desktop) while constantly timing out. Everything looked OK (I took screenshots of everything), but for others, it might help to click through from Costco every single time you try to check out. There was also a separate TMobile+Costco order confirmation that I only got for 2 of my 4 orders. |

Good:
Costco members can get their $100 upgrade gc, $35 connection fee waived, and 90 day return policy through online orders. No more waiting at the kiosk, no more hard upsells, no more calling the help desk. Order online at your convenience. Must start the order through the upgrade button on the Costco T-mobile page [costco.com]. If your trade-in IMEI is not accepted by the online system, you will have to call in or visit the kiosk where they can override the system.
Read the wiki, some SDers got the Costco link to work by either bruteforcing it to the end or adding the items in T-Life cart then switching to Costco to finish.
Bad:
Certain free lines no longer qualify for upgrade promos. Previously, all lines allowed upgrade promos, but no longer. You will have to check line by line to see which allows upgrading (the system will warn you if the line does not qualify). You can still stack upgrade EIP / promos on the same line then use the phone on a different line.
Community Reviews
This Pixel 10 upgrade promo is mainly a targeted T Mobile trade in deal that can make the phone, and sometimes Pixel Buds 2a, nearly free on qualifying lines. Costco ordering can waive the $35 connection fee and add a $100 shop card, while T Life often shows the offer when the website does not. The catch is that eligibility is picky, with some legacy, free, prepaid, or Advantage lines not qualifying, and the trade in tool may reject certain phones despite the any condition wording. Early payoff can forfeit remaining credits, so the best value comes from keeping the line active through the full credit period.
Common Questions (5)
Start the upgrade through the Costco T-Mobile link, and many users had to add the phone in T-Life first, then finish checkout through Costco for the waiver and shop card to appear. The Costco rebate is typically automatic and can show up later in the promotions/rebate portal rather than immediately at checkout.
No. The promo is targeted, and the account must show the offer in T-Life or checkout; some plans only see smaller $250/$500 offers or no offer at all. The trade-in also has to be an eligible model in the promo list, even though the wording says any condition.
Yes, if the account is targeted and the phone is on the eligible list, broken phones and phones that do not power on can qualify as long as the IMEI is available. Some very old models or non-listed models still get rejected, so the trade-in tool's result matters.
Yes. Paying off the device early forfeits the remaining promo credits, so the full discount only comes from keeping the phone on the EIP for the full 24 months. T-Mobile also requires a waiting period before unlocking after payoff.
If the promo is applied through self-serve checkout and no plan-change prompt appears, the plan stays the same. Some accounts, especially older or free-line setups, were told they needed a qualifying plan or saw only smaller offers, so the checkout flow is the best check.

Yeah that's 4 months ago. The rebate should be there in 90 days.
Unfortunately, just a few days later, both in-laws Samsung A32s were reported to have expanded batteries. I would have much preferred to trade those in, since they are actually hazards, but I'll hope for the next any trade/any condition includes those models. Cycled out the Samsungs for the Pixel 10s, and they are happy now.
Have an old Simple Choice plan, and I have not only seen the promo credits on my account, but confirmed no account changes occurred! Also ran the deal through Costco, so, really this is a money maker for me
No plan changes, and I'll be sticking with Tmo for the foreseeable future.

T-Mobile Confirms Price Increases For Legacy Customers [tmo.report]The company's chief marketing officer said that affected customers won't be given any choice – "it is just going to happen."
T-Mobile claims the move is not motivated by money, but rather on simplifying the number of plans it supports.
Whats are you options? I have 6 voice lines and 2 tablet lines and have tons of features and EIP etc.....international roaming is great for some of the lines that travel as well as international calling for some of the lines......I am paying $185ish.......

If not, US Mobile is really popular. I'd think Visible & US Mobile will run some sort of promotion after hearing that Tmo is screwing some older customers - I believe they did something similar last time Tmo pulled this. Maybe a 4th of July sale or something?
I also know there is a lot of discussion on the Tmo subreddit about the new Verizon "Simplicity" plan which is $30/line/mo. Personally, I'd use their 30 day trial (on the main site) to see if their coverage works or not. That plan does not include new device promos/EIPs.
There are other options - specifically connected to cable companies - Comcast & Spectrum who offer some great deals if you're in their service areas. I remember Spectrum giving lines and phones away.
