Exactly what I was looking for, 32GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.

Probably the best ultra-portable (14", <4lbs) gaming laptop on the market for performance and build quality. The only better one would be the 2026 model of the same (this one is 2025) but that's $3.5k and not dropping any time soon.

I jumped on this as I was waiting for a good Zephyrus G14/16 deal. The price is really good considering the AI-driven surge in memory prices and this will last you a few years.

I just got an open box excellent of the 5080/2TB variety for 2337 when that was on sale a week or so ago.

What a laptop, loving it so far. Only drawbacks imo so far are fan noise when gaming (it's acceptable, but far from quiet), ram is soldered, and there's no 2nd nvme slot so if you want to upgrade, you need to clone and sacrifice the 1tb drive you get with it.

But this thing has great battery life for normal activity once optimized (recommend g helper over armory crate), cpu and gpu both undervolt, runs everything I've thrown at it at max/near max settings in native 1800p, and I've heard the 5070 Ti is actually the best card for it as due to the tdp limits it's only about a 5-10% drop from the 5080 with a 20% power savings. It's also very sleek looking, thin and portable, and has an incredible screen. Great deal, just account for extra cost in the ssd upgrade if 1tb isn't enough.

Open boxes were sub 1400 back in April. Worth waiting for that price to come back?

It's going to be a long wait. I'd guess 2027.

Great laptop but she run's hot. If you are going to use it routinely for gaming would highly recommend a "sealed" laptop cooler such as the Lano V10. The machine will thermally throttle and depending on your long term intentions, even if it isn't throttling, running at the rated thermal ceiling constantly isn't awesome for longevity.

Also these laptops (especially the G14 vs G16) are designed around compromise. The 5070 TI in this model IS power starved (and especially a reason to not bother with the 5080 because it's even more starved). If you want the best performance from a 5070ti laptop you want something that is thicker with more robust cooling. Asus designed these to walk the line of having plenty of power but also being compact which again, is not better or worse, it's a decision.

One last tip, do not put this laptop into ultimate mode... ever.. the performance difference is within a margin of error. Further at least in my G14 (and a few other reddit folks I connected with) the laptop runs HOTTER in Ultimate mode for no apparent gain... It appears that the CPU especially runs 8-10 degrees Celsius hotter in like for like scenarios when in ultimate vs standard/optomized which is unexpected behavior since those settings typically are related to GPU settings not CPU but the temps are the temps...

Above all else, install G-Helper immediately and remove asus crate.

I wouldn't bet on that. When that happened, it literally sold in minutes (I saw the deal notification like 30 mins late and not a single one was already available nearly or for shipping). Even if - big if - the memory prices go down sensibly in a year or two, this model new/open-box will be pretty much be out-of-stock everywhere with the newer models priced quite a bit above this deal. Of course nobody knows for sure but if you are looking right now to buy in the shortish term, you are very unlikely to find a better deal.

Thanks for posting this. I've wanted one for my son's college laptop and I've been waiting for it to go back down. Unfortunately by the time I got my wife sold on it, all the Excellents were sold out but I got a Good one for a local BB.
