This Frigidaire 6.5 cubic foot upright freezer stands out for garage use and easier access than a chest freezer, with several long term reports of it running well through hot summers and frigid winters. The 1 year parts and labor warranty is clearer than the confusing return window, and the manual defrost design is the main tradeoff. The cabinet can arrive with cosmetic scratches or dents, and the build feels flimsy enough that returns may be awkward. It is a practical compact freezer if you are fine with periodic defrosting and careful delivery handling.

  • The freezer can keep running for years in a Midwest garage through frigid winters.

  • The freezer includes a 1-year parts and labor warranty for coverage.

  • The upright layout can make it easier to access stored items than a chest freezer.

  • The manual defrost model can still work well when defrosting is handled regularly.

  • Walmart returns and pickup for major appliances can be difficult, including reports of refusal to pick up.

  • The freezer can require annual defrosting, which adds ongoing maintenance time.

  • The return window can be limited to about two days, which may be too short for appliance issues.

  • The door and interior performance can be problematic, including hard-to-open operation and frequent water dripping.

Seems like a decent price for an upright, but it's manual defrost. Fine if you don't mind manually defrosting regularly, but I personally don't want to deal with that.

Bought this as well. Going strong ~2 years and it's stored in the garage (Midwest) with frigid winters. Overall, happy with the freezer
Frigid winters only help.Has to work much less. Hot summers are more challenging

I bought the Arctic King 7 Cu ft Chest Freezer for $217 from Walmart in 2022 and it's still going in my garage.
I regret getting the chest since it's a pain to dig stuff out and rotate stock to have the newest on the bottom. If I didn't have the one I have now, I'd def get this one.
And manually defrosting it is a pain too - I use the scraper to scrape down the ice to minimize down-time.
PS _ this is a garage in Nashville, TN where it gets 93 in my garage during the summer and 60 during the winter.

I did a similar thing. Same thoughts. IF you use a chest freezer and keep it more than half full, you're going to hate it. You'll be doing lots of digging looking for stuff.
An upright is much more convenient.

Everyone, do yourself a favor and get a yolink wireless monitoring sensor w hub. It's cheap and works outstanding to keep an eye on freezer temps. I've been using it for quite a while and I can see the temp in the freezer at any time. You can also set alarms. Highly recommended.

I bought one a couple years ago when we need some more food storage space. It's totally fine for the price. Expect some cosmetic damage as the exterior construction is pretty flimsy, if you're not okay with that then plan to deal with trying to return/exchange it at Wal-Mart or don't bother.

Either way 2 day return says everything you need to know. Unless there's a separate warranty period.
too many people are buying to freeze something for 3 days and then returning. so it got shortened to 2 days

Wow, thanks for the heads up! That's a red flag for me. Looks like Walmart also refuses to pick it back up for returns after reading some of the 1 star reviews. Yikes.
No pickup for a possible return is a big problem

Amex doubles the warranty. You got 4 days.
