You mean before tariffs that "other countries will pay"? Glad I got mine then. It is the best mitre saw for 95% of work. (The other 5% I have a corded 12" mitre)

True, haha. It was $~200 a few months ago. How accurate and powerful is it? Could it cut 8/4 purple heart or hard maple?

It is pretty accurate. And it really depends on yoour saw blade. The one that comes with the unit is just OK. If you want to cut hard maple, you had get a better blade. If I wanted to cut hard maple, I would use my 12" corded dewalt.
