This is the one to buy. Eight years strong. The real bonus of this is the ability to have TWO passive channels. Plus the main powered one.Especially great for outdoor music management.** being able to have two separate pairs of speakers be powered while the main unit in standby is super great.
It's not that old, released in 2021.

I want to point out that you are talking about pre-outs for surround sound. I only need one pre-out for my sub. So this is perfect for me! There are 2 pre-outs for subs.
This can only process 9 channels, so likely talking about preouts in the sense of adding more power to existing channels.

I would point out, those two pre-outs for subs are parallel/mono signal.
Think built in Y-splitter.

But how long will it before those new models get into ( if ever) this price range

For the AVR's and speakers that seem to be popular and make front page all the time on slick deals...this is right in the sweet spot price point

Surely the RZ30 will come down to this price when the new models are released? Possible?

Good deal, but the RZ50 for $749 was something I really wish I would have jumped on. I'm looking forward to this Black Friday.

I'm looking forward replacing my onkyo tx sr680 that survived for decades, but doesn't have 4k.

I had old polk 7.1 set Tsi300 + Cs10 + Tsi100 + Psw110.
I just want add one aditional used sub and a pair of ceiling speakers.

Is that a good idea? or should a get Energy set deal?

How's the Onkyo app? Currently on Yamaha RX-A850 and considering upgrading but need to know if the app is comparable

pulled the trigger on this especially since Cap1 was offering $50 off $50+. Wanted the RZ50 but this will do nicely since i probably won't be adding a second sub anytime soon
