Another slick deals front pager
Even after almost 6 years on the market..I still say its worth the $599 if its at least as sonically capable as the Onkyo RZ50 I used to own
Its somewhat amazing Onkyo is getting all this time out of these same models. I have never seen this phenomenon before
At this point they certainly have long captured their development costs and can sell them aggressively priced. Probably a good thing for a section of the market like slick deals
Actual owners seem to be very happy with these models
I suggest reading through the AVS owners' thread for information from them

The Onkyo TX NR7100 is a 9 channel AV receiver that stands out mainly for Dirac Live at $599, making it one of the cheapest ways to get Dirac in an AVR. It is also praised for solid everyday performance, easy setup, and long term reliability, with reports of years of use and no overheating when ventilation is adequate. The main drawbacks are the lack of pre outs, parallel sub outs, and only basic AccuEQ if Dirac is not used. It also may not be the best match for demanding 3 to 4 ohm speakers at loud levels. A strong value pick if Dirac is the priority.
Common Questions (5)
No pre-outs are included on the TX-NR7100, and its two subwoofer outputs are parallel rather than independent. If you want pre-outs or more advanced bass management, the RZ30 is the step-up model.
If your current receiver already covers your needs, the main upgrades are Dirac Live, HDMI eARC, and HDMI 2.1 support. Older models like the NR676 or NR797 can still be fine for basic 5.2.2 or 2.1 setups.
Yes. Dirac Live is onboard at no extra charge at $599, making it one of the least expensive ways to get Dirac right now.
It can handle normal listening levels for many setups, but truly 3-4 ohm speakers across a wide range may be a challenge at louder volumes. For that kind of load, the RZ70 is the safer recommendation.
These units can run warm to hot, but overheating is mainly a ventilation problem rather than a normal operating issue. Proper airflow matters more than the model itself.

If you're after Dirac Live, this is least expensive option right now.

I dont care about Durak or any kind of calibrator, my ears and brain will calibrate just fine. But if my unit dies (had it since 2018- $349.99)), I'd get this one, its almost the same.

The main reason this is still so popular is access to Dirac.
The only meaningful additions to the new units will be access to Dirac's subwoofer/bass room correction(DLBC) & D-ART room correction & likely 4 independent sub outs which this does not offer.
This comes at a cost, Denon & Marantz are a good example of that.
This isn't really a benefit for most people, these 2021 PAC units are a good example of that.
Is this as good as the deals are likely to get? This has everything I want, so I'm wondering if I'm likely to find a 7.2 version for that much cheaper?
Personally, Nothing at even double this price point would be recommended by me if your speakers are what you say they are
Check out the Onkyo RZ70..its the least expensive unit I know of that I would pair with those speakers and not have a question in my mind whether there would be an issue
These PAC units didnt do well on ASR testing with 4 ohm loads
I personally owned a Denon X4800 for a while and I would not pair it with 3-4 ohm speakers and listen at loud levels, consistently, either
However, I would have no issue with trying that with my Integra 8.4 and it shares the same amp/power supply as the Onkyo RZ70 I suggested
On another note, speakers that are 3-4 ohm , across a wide range, are typically higher end anyway
What are you using now to power them?
That might be the real litmus test of what could work for you
