What would you do if you came home from work and your bathroom looked liked this?

Mold-1
BG-2 (and counting)

Whee

Bathroom before BG:

Bathroom after BG: EEK!

Tomorrow I break out the hazmat suit and real mask and the rest of the walls are coming down.

Hey BG, Are you planning on using something like Red Guard on the greenboard? It's really relatively cheap insurance against leaks.. Only like $50 or so for a container that would be enough to do your walls around your shower.

Basically, it will waterproof the greenboard, so when water seeps through the grout (it will eventually), you'll be ok..

Greenboard in itself is not waterproof.
We're considering it, right now we are just getting the walls up....I'm going to redo a few areas today, I'm not happy with the way it sits on the tub and the corner is giving trouble.

i'm not sure i would put plastic behind the greenboard.. your vapor barrier is supposed to go on top of the greenboard then your mud or concrete board then your tile.. otherwise your greenboard will get moldy and crumble apart from the moisture
Huh I'm not using tile, so no grout and no concrete board...a friend who's a contractor told me to do it this wall. With a tub surround on the walls, it will be fine. nod

Glamorlux Nancy is a friend of mine, so when her pink bathroom was featured in this [savethepinkbathrooms.com]article, it made me think of your thread.

Keeping the tile floor for now too..so much other stuff to do I can't do everything the way I'd like right now. But it's sure better then the mold and that damn pepto bismal pink..laugh out loud

Here's the rest of the house before and afters.EEK!

Nice!

Well I wound up doing all 4 walls as it was just easier that way...

It started because my DW slipped while showering and to catch her self stuck her hand out...well it went through the wet wall...into the stud cavity!

Next to the tub was the window and the sill was slanted toward the window instead of towards the tub...so the over spray would sit on the sill where we thought it was evaporating...nope went down the wall...Grrr!

So I ripped out all the drywall, the tub, the sink, etc...down to just the 4 walls and the floor. I put copper green on all the walls and then drywalled 'em.

We put in a plastic shower surround (as we were going to sell the house soon) so the drywall (used the greenboard version) was just fine.

What sucked the most was....we only had ONE bathroom!!! EEK!

We yanked ALL the fixtures!

Nothing was more satisfying then taking a sledge-o-matic to the pink crapper!

Then a shovel and the bits and pieces fit nicely into the weekly garbage can!LMAO

Our tiles were not regular porcelain tiles, they seemed to be aluminum pink tiles wtf?
