kay... no wegmans here unfortunately, but they sound fab.
whole foods will also clean up chicken or fish for you. couple of months ago they had a great sale on whole sea bass. now i cannot cook whole fish, the sight of the fish staring at me gives me the willies. laugh out loud
so i asked them to clean and fillet for me. they did! no cost. deboned, filleted. saved me so much time and effort. Yahoo! i have picked up packs of organic chicken breast and asked meat counter to marinade for me. same thing - no cost! they do it and then wrap it up for me. by the time i get home, unload groceries and put away perishables, the chicken is happily marinaded and ready to go in oven. very handy on busy days.

raw milk/cheese - would be so awesome. i looked into it, but don't have any organic raw milk dairies close to me. would be a 1.5 drive each way atleast. too much. i would do it occassionally if I'm making cheese from scratch, but otherwise it is just too cumbersome in terms of the driving time. you are lucky!

as for chicken tenders... what are you doing with them, frying or oven baking?
How are you feeling today?
Oh.. I never knew they dress the chickens too..I will try with them tomorrow.. Cheese from scratch, sounds exciting.. never thought about it anyways.. buy those OV ones and i love their butter (make ghee out of their cultured unsalted butter..they taste divineWink
Chicken tenders, I did bake them, with this [rachaelrayshow.com] recipe
It comes out dry, but inside not cooked properly..

I keep trying to talk my neighbor into getting a milk cow. They have some horses so why not throw a cow in the mix? She is the one from whom I get my free range, no antibiotic or any other crap eggs. I can look out my window and see the chickens sometimes. (They aren't quite a block a way). My husband is in serious winter egg mourning. Their laying slows way down so they don't have enough to sell.
Oh, how exciting, so you get those chickens too..

Wave Hi all, just popping in to say Hi. Been thinking about you all. Spent the weekend doing more painting. I swear it feels like the painting will never end. So far, I've hired painters to paint the Living Room, Foyer, Hallway, Stairwell and upstairs hallway. I've painted the breakfast nook (several times, lol), the den and downstairs bath.

LMAO See, I told you I see colors others dont. My house in no way looks like a magazine. It's horrible. The only rooms that look decent are the ones I show you, the rest look like a cyclone came through. Really. One room is nothing but totes and target bags, the other room is nothing but a bed and my room, well...it's a disaster and it's next on the list of things to do.

Kewl - sounds like you had a great sale. DH is thinking of doing a few this next year... wouldn't mind getting some input on pricing if/when you are ever up to it. Normally we give most of our excess away, but lately I've kind of built up a bit more than I planned/expected.

And yes - it amazes me what is called pg13. : cold:

Oh - I forgot to mention that I could not find the little goodlife trays at all today. I didn't even see a shelf spot for them! It is kind of sad/annoying. Frown
Nivea men's body wash - 2.50
Oral-B Crossaction Power toothbrush - 3.00
"" refills - 3.00
Suave deodorant (the not-quite trial size we got for free/MM at T) - .50
Olay BW - 3.00/ea (I have sold this at 4.00/ea and done well at this price, also)
Curel lotion - 2.00
Airwick I-Motion - 5.00
Airwick compact I-Motion - 3.00
Finish tabs - 2.00

Let me know if that is enough info or if you had other items you wanted to know about.

One good thing is several people knew their prices in-store, and KNEW that my prices were a much better deal. One lady had bought her Oral-B toothbrush the day before for $7 at the store - I convinced her to buy a backup so she wouldn't have to do that next time. Big Grin Another guy was asking what the regular price for Nivea mens bw is, and his first guess was $7, so my 2.50 was a superb deal for him.

Good evening.. or night now I suppose.. Was gonna multi quote, but lost it all.. so, just comment on what I remember

Dazzled and flug - congrats on the sales.. I had some very successful sales last year.. But sadly, my stockpile is growing near as much these days as it once did Sadwalk Oh how I miss better coupons and old registers laugh out loud I still have some stuff, but don't know if it would be enough to even bother with..

Somehow I have managed to scrape together enough stuff from different stores/sales to make it. I have definitely had to diversify since the Update at T, but in a way, that's been a good thing for me. It pushed me to learn the ropes at Rite Aid, and that has been a lot of fun.

On another note - does anyone have a recommendation for a french press? DH was saying that he can't get a good cup of coffee at work and was wondering about a small personal coffee maker and I told him that i heard French presses are super duper for making coffee. Soooo.... I was wondering if anyone has recommendations about which one is a good one and do I go for glass or plastic? TIA!
Yep, as someone else mentioned, the Bodum presses work great. If he doesn't drink a whole bunch at one sitting, I would recommend getting a single serving size. If the coffee sits too long in a press, it gets very bitter, so its not like he can pour a cup, nurse it for 3 hours, go back and pour another cup.

Okay.. The raspberry in sprite and lemonade sounded so good, I pulled the trigger and ordered some.. Now, I am thinking I need some pumps and a rack LMAO I didn't feel too bad cause I had some amazon credit already on my account.. All bottles I ordered this week only cost me 3.50 in "real money" which makes me super happy Smilie
Craving a raspberry limeade now drool

Been doing the warm compresses on my eye, helped DH do our taxes, and watching NCIS now.. been a pretty relaxing evening!
I heart NCIS. NCIS, Bones, and The Office are our shows right now. At least, those are the ones we keep current with. Hubby also loves Psych and I like In Plain Sight. Both of which are not running right now, thank God. Its hard enough keeping up with 3 shows. My sisters also love The Mentalist and Castle. I will watch them on DVD, but since we don't have Tivo or a DVR, if we want to watch them in the current season, we have to watch them when it airs or on the computer later. Which I'm not a huge fan of. For some reason, the stupid commercials on Hulu are more annoying than the ones on regular TV. laugh out loud

hug I am doing fine. Busy as heck but fine. Ellie is just wonderful. Gosh, I am totally smitten with her. She smells all wonderful like a baby and she's so cuddly. She LOVES to be sang to. If she gets a little fussy, I start singing and those eyes just close. I could go on for hours about how wonderful she is laugh out loud but I'll spare you the boringness of it...

Ema is doing good. She's still waiting to see the endocrinologist and she starts work this week, against my advice (but then she DIDN"T ask for my advice Roll) anyway, I'd love to see her stay home and take care of Ellie at least for a while longer...

I have this french press...Although I didn't pay that much money for it. Must have gotten it on a good deal. Anyway, works great and keeps the coffee hot for at least a little while. Definitely long enough to have a couple of cups.

I should have left YEARS ago I was so unhappy but I stayed for the kids and the fact that I didnt think I could do it on my own. But you know what.. I am... and I am doing good! I am only 35, my WHOLE life is still ahead of me.. and I have 4 great kids by my side too! Now looking foward to leaving in 13 days with the BF to Phoenix!!!
I am so glad things are going so well for you, Phoenix is awesome, I love it there, esp in the 'winter' and there are lots of Targets.

nikayla... have you been salt water gargling? warm water, salt, mix, take a sip, toss head back and work the water as low back in your throat as you can and get the air gurgling through it. toss out. repeat with next sip.

will zap the soreness. get on it girlie thang!

vitamin c... is fine to take 500mg pills multiple times a day when you are sick. your body needs it. you don't want to take high doses indefinitely for years and years cos it can cause kidney stones or increase the tendency towards them at least. but a few thousand milligrams a day when you are sick? nahhh, no big deal. in fact, it's a good deal. :D

one other thing: since you are taking the regular vitamin c and not ester c, make sure to take it with food, cos it can be irritating to sensitive stomachs since it is acidic.

dry thing that your grandmum gave you - you sure it wasn't dried ginger? dried ginger looks like dried mango but lighter/pale yellowish and is pretty mild, especially if candied. that is another thing you can do - if raw ginger is too sharp/pungent for you, et some candied ginger. look for the kind that isn't incredibly encrusted in sugar (too sweet, increases nausea for me), and make sure it doesn't have other additives.

ginger root keeps well in the fridge for weeks and weeks so we always some in the veggie drawer. if you have a trader joe's near you, they usually have a saran wrapped square tray of organic ginger root for 2.99-3.99. has 2-3 really large pieces. even if you were to eat it everyday, that much ginger would last you a few weeks, so it's a good value.
No salt water gargle but I will, almost better now. This is why I need to write it down and put it up in the medicine cabinet, I always forget what I have done that works in the past. I need to get a netti pot too. I do need to get ester C next time it is my favorite kind of C but we had lots of those Nature Made family coupons a while back and I didn't see that brand with ester. Ya know now that I think about it, I think it was candied ginger that she would give us but she got the kind with the sugar crystals on it, a little to sweet.

 TY, I guess it is but ya know we were just so glad to finally know what it was. In one way it is good that we didn't know for so long because it ment that she had none of the major problems that can happen, like some parents don't find out until their child needs major heart surgery or they find out in utero their baby needs heart or kidney surgery and has serious problems.

I just bought one of those Christmas-themed pillows with the blanket inside. They finally went to 75% off at one store. Dunno why they didn't go with the rest of the Christmas merchandise. These are the ones that have "snuggle up", or a snowflake pattern, or Christmas stockings on them. 3 or 4 different motifs.

Anyway, how the H-E-double chopsticks do you get that blanket back into the pillow neatly? It's all lumpy and stuffed in there. I tried folding it a couple of different ways, but same result.
I really wanted to get a couple of those, never found them, maybe there is hope. No idea about the folding, might be one of those things that once opened is never the same.

Had to hit the other side of town to pick up my son, so I decided to run into my regular target.. Got a few of the usuals, but had a weird check out experience.. Seemed like we got some kind of update, but before I would ever claim that, I would definitely want to try again.. Basically 2 different coupons I used beeped after the third like coupon and needed a k1 - dropped to the bottom.. But, another coupon in the same family, different amount, went through beepless.. which would lead me to believe they are limiting to 3 like per transaction.. But, then when I used my halls bogo coupons, I was not able to use another coupon with it.. I was getting 4 halls, and normally am able to use 2 bogo and 2 of the .55 off.. this time, the register wouldn't take it and he couldn't k1. It kept popping up asking for coupon amount, then when he entered it said "amount exceeds" I had no barcode issues, double checked when I got home.. Could have possibly been a right side/left side scan issue, but he tried atleast 4 times.. I finally told him not to worry about it.. Any ideas?
I have had similar happen for some reason but not consistantly, can't figure it out. Also it does it less if I give MQ first and save TQs for the end.
Quote from Kay12 :
Meese::hug: Lost you on the quote, Things will work out for your DH.. and hope it works out like what Nik says

It is ok Nik, I have stocked up some, but i really miss the $1 off any Whole foods coupons...I have seen those peelies too, but in wegmans those pasta sauce comes to $3.99/jar, still with that yellow peelie it is pretty pricy, when the WF coupons were around, i would be able to stack WF coupons and MQ, so it comes little cheap...

donno what to say nik, your post moved me so much.. and glad that you got the right doctor and you are a great mother..
Glad your cough got better too..
I think I used the coupons on the smaller size cans but now I am trying to stay away from buying cans. I just wish there weren't so many nasty chemicals out there in so many things. Thank you and I try, I am glad other;s think I am a great mother because a lot of time I don't feel like I am. DH tells me all the time that I am though so that must mean something. He admits he couldn't get along with out me and that no one else would do.

kay thanks for that color chart - that is handy!

i first started buying organic produce a a few years ago when i learned of the dirty dozen list. have you heard of it? it's revised every year - a list of the 12 items with the highest pesticide levels. strawberries are almost always near the top of that list. yuck.

we don't do microwave dinners either. some of the trader joes frozen foods are liked by the tribe here, so when we get them (again as occasional treats or backups) we tip em out of the plastic try and heat in a microwave safe bowl.
I have heard of that list and try to do the same with everything you posted as much as we can afford. I am surprised you use a microwave though. I hate that I use ours occasionally. They are so dangerous (at least some peopel think so) you can not even own one in the soviet union. Why did the Soviet Union ban the use of microwave ovens in 1976? See below:

Kalli :wave2: when I see your post I think of that rapp I think song "Going back to Cali, Cali...." I do love visiting CA wouldn't mind living there either. Except it is expensive and crowded and the earthquaks.

A huge new Winn Co opened up over here, any one have any idea how coupons work there? I looked around and they have pretty good prices on lots of things but very limited options on cleaning type products.

We drove over 8 hours in one day to go down to visit family and throw lilB his 2 yr bday party. It was a great party and I am SO lucky to have such amazing sweet inlaws. My DH has the BEST family and I am so blessed to be a part of it, they loves us and our kids so much and make it obvious, I am just so gratefull for all of them.

We had wanted to stay over night but we are have problems with the renter we sublet the basement apartment to so we will have to evict him in the morning. Talk about people who take advantage! I have been so kind for so long and helped them out so much with giving them tuns of food and lots of stockpile swag. It is times for the gravy train to end no more! He can't keep a job and has been only paying a little bit of rent here and there and is now as of feb 1 3k behind on rent! Plus we have found out the guy goes to the methadone clinic every moring and has issues that way, no wonder he can't keep a job and his wife left. Did I mention I HATE renting? We have had some doosies and mostly because DH won't listen to me when I say NO NOT THOSE PEOPLE!!!! He always wants to help people out.

Nope. If ya kill them, they stop laying eggs. laugh out loud They don't raise chickens for meat, they just have the hens for eggs.

Sonic Ice People: I read online that Sonic sells bags of ice for a buck. One place said they were 8#.

I've never had these syrups. I should pick up a bottle for my iced tea, is Raspberry best for that?

quick pics of house.

Tootsie, this is for you. It's the SW Ramie in the breakfast nook. In my house it's showing green or maybe I'm a bit colorblind. Sometimes I see colors that no one else does. Oh, and ignore the cords. I haven't gotten around to tying them up yet. Probably next year laugh out loud I'd love to see a pic of your room to see what other colors it shows.

Here's the color it was before. House yellow. The whole house was in this yellow when i bought it. Every single room.

The main color, BM Manchester Tan.

Here's a quick not so good snap of the bathroom color. There must have been 20 years of paint on the walls, most of them various colors of blues which must have look horrible. I think playing off the tans in the border and floor tiles is the best. Never thought I'd have the color 'bagel' in a bathroom laugh out loud I'll post more pics when I'm done sprucing up the room. ie, when I cover the hole in the wall Roll

Wow, I love it!

Whatever, it DOES look like a magazine! I keep thinking as long as the front rooms are decent and my house does not look like the horders ones on TV (even if it feels that it does to me) then we are doing ok. I would take your advice on paint and decorating any time.

That is awesome that you have such great inlaws... must be REALLY nice!! So sorry about your renter... My DH is the same way...let's help everyone but then it ends up costing us in the long run... so sorry!! I always tell my dh no... does he listen!?! NOPE... oh well... Hope you can recoup the back rent and get an amazing tentant in there Smilie

Sending many :hugs:
It is and I wish yours were better. You remind me how lucky we are. hug I don't get it though, I would love for my son to have a wife like you someday, you inlaws make me mad! Another way our DH are the same lol. He said he will listen to my advice on renters better this time, I hope so, we will see, I think asking for a deposit, 1st, and last mo rent will help weed out the lame-o worthless ones.

Nik, I can't remember last week no less Christmas Smilie No problem if it was me!! I'm constantly losing/finding things hug
hug My answer is probably burried in my PMs somewhere but DH is already giving me the stink eye about being online. He just doesn't understand. And I haven't even tried to catch up on deals yet. And I really really need to shop now, tomorrow.

ohmygosh I had the worst experience at Smiths getting papers today, well first I tried to do a return of a few things and the nazi asshat manager wouldn't return anything because I couldn't find my receipt. Then he followed me around the store and when I went to check to make sure my papers had inserts he totally accused me of trying to steal the inserts and that I would have to buy all those papers in my cart (like what the hell else am I going to do with the papers in my cart except buy them?!?!) and they have security cameras on me. WTF? I told him that is awesome, and he SHOULD check them to know I was just making sure my inserts were in there, oh and I pulled the Rite Aid ad out to look at it for a few minutes. He said he KNOWS all the inserts are in there. I said they are not ALWAYS in there, four papers had no Red Plum at all and I showed him. totall asshat! He was insisting he was going to have to check me out to make sure I bought ALL my papers and I needed to pay right then before I even looked inside them. Total dork, I was like whatever dude, watch me if you want and you can ring me up if you want but I need to get some bread and a few produce and I will see ya in a few. I totally should have gotten his name and do a complaint but eh... whatever... I am tired and was tired and my voice is still so froggy. I can totally let it go... I just wanna shower and sleep. I think I will just get my papers from hellmart. They are not as asshattery about returns.

OMG! I will have to call my Sonic now and ask. So funny, last night DH and I made a trip to the mini mart for ice, we are picky about our ice! I even said that I wish you could buy the pellets from Sonic! A buck for an 8# bag seems too cheap, I'd give them a buck tip. laugh out loud

Finally caved and ordered some Torani Sugar Free Raspberry Syrup to try. I figure I'll use it in sodas and I make a lot of sun tea for DH in summer, so we can use it for that too. Now I want the pumps, and the racks are cool too!
