I really hate being a B***H, but sometime it just has to be done...tell me if I am wrong...

So, technically I supervise 2 people out of our 7 on staff. We work 8:00-4:30 with an hour lunch and 2 fifteen minute breaks (we are part of a union...) We technically work 37.5 hours a week and are on salary, so basically, we are on the clock 24 hours as needed...So...one of the persons that I supervise shows up in the morning whenever she feels like it as well as another staff that my boss supervises. My boss has been sick the last two days, so I am the boss of the day.
Yesterday, we had a volunteer in our office before both of these staff were here and today we had someone else drop something off for my girl before she was here. I would have no problem with the girls coming in late if they had worked the night before or even if I knew that all of their work was done…but that is not the case!
So, today, it was 8:45 and neither one was in sight, so I sent them an email saying that I am one person's supervisor and I want her here at her scheduled time…she can take her breaks and lunch, but if she chooses not to, that is her choice…many days, I don't leave my office or take breaks (other than to chat with you guys!), but I consider that my lunch! Smilie Cause I get my work done even if it means working more than 37.5 hours a week!
To the other girl, I said I was the boss when the boss was away and if she had something else set up with our boss, to let me know.
My girl is P****D OFF at me. It actually makes me kind of laugh as now she thinks we all need to have a meeting about it and people shouldn't be able to use their lunches at the end of the day if they have an appointment etc… We get paid well enough for our roles in the community and I just think it looks crappy when people don't appreciate this. Our working environment is not bad and if everyone does their job, life is good and good things happen!
Just had to vent as I am not going to play the games at work today…

The other girl just told me thanks for the reminder...my girl is still upset!

Hate to tell your girl, but in 6 years ive been late 4 times. 3 of them were to take the car in to the shop (and was pre-scheduled with my boss) and the 4th, i almost made it intime, but had the flu and had to pull over to vomit. My boss wouldnt really care if i was late, but thats not the point... if you have a job, you go to it when the boss tells you to, and work starts at 8 doesnt mean pulling into the parking lot at 8. You should remind your girl that there are a ton of people who would gladly show up on time if she doesnt want to. Smilie

OK ladies, any ideas?

I am thinking about DS reception. colors are pink and blue. The reception is an open house 2-6 on a Saturday. I am renting the senior center for it. At most 100 people invited and that is a big stretch I am sure. I have some votive holders I can put on the tables. Where is a good place for cheap votives? They have a few vases with flowers and ribbons I guess. What else can I put on the tables? Where get table cloths? I was thinking the York peppermint bits that look like blue and white m&ms. Didn't get any after Valentines pink/red m&ms Frown Also food. They are making maccaroni salad and balogna sandwiches (because they have balogna) that they will cut in triangles like finger sanwiches. I have some hot dogs from a recent sale that I could make or cut up with BBQ sauce. They have chips. and punch. What else could we do that is cheap not too much work and nice to make this special for them? You can throw out lots of ideas and I can just ponder and talk to them about it. Don't be offended if we don't do it but thanks in advance for the help.

Do you have a Dollar Tree near you? I would get those plastic colored tablecloths for $1. This is also a good olace for your votive candles.

So I've been busy today. I fixed the tire swing (replaced the rope with chain). I refilled the salt in the water softner... and I guess that is about it. there are other things on my to do list, but without a drill, I can't do much.

Yes, we have one in the city and DS has an appointment Monday. I was thinking I would look around there to see what they have.

Hey guys...what did I miss? I think I snuck out w/o telling you! Took the grkids to my mom and dad's for a few days of spring break. Had a great time with them! Found the world's best playground in Gainesville, TX next to a zoo. They enjoyed it so much. I'm going to try to go back and catch up on what I've missed after golf today! MISSED YOU ALL!
Blowkiss I snuck away too - took 2 kids to the doctor, got the little one's picture taken, drove 3 hours round trip to the big cities north of here, drug 3 kids along, did a couple T runs, went to BCF, no codes Frown Drove instead alllll over the 3 cities looking at Hy-Vee's and Walgreens, found some but it was random.

Happy St. Patty's Day! Had to redo my office today, so it was a good reason to throw away about 5 years of papers...didn't even look at them, just started throwing stuff away...hopefully I didn't throw away something I needed!

DS has his sleepover night for camp and DD is staying at a friends and is babysitting. Grilled burgers made sweet potato fries, poppers and grilled aspargus...yummy!!!

It was in the upper 60s today and it was feeling quite nice!
Sounds like a great day! woot

On the work thing, I've been on their side of it but never quite so late. We're talking 5-15 min. Always made up my time and then some but boss was a fanatic about being on time so I don't think he liked me too well. laugh out loud This conversation reminds me that I'm glad I'm a SAHM and no longer have to go to work every morning. LOL

I would grind the balogna up into ham salad and skip the weiners unless you cut them up into baked beans.

I have one big bag of Valentines day m&m's, will that work? I can send them today.

Chocolate covered pretzels can be dipped in almond bark tinted pink and blue...I'm trying to think of what's cheap....I wish you lived closer, I did our wedding and still have all the stuff (including votives) that needed a good home....does anyone have a big pork roast? I thought maybe since you live on a farm you might have one or know someone who does, seems like that's always a go to around here and you could roast it and shred it w/bbq for sandwiches.....deviled eggs are cheap and easy to do (but as you know...so time consuming)....if you are making the cake, add instant pudding to the mix - it makes it more decadent and not so much like boxed mix....if you can get a hold of some yards of tulle, that makes for wasy decorating - can be made into bows, or table runners or swags - the posibilities there are endless. Christmas lights add a twinkle too and most people have those laying around. Also, canning jars with sand and a votive are a country lantern and those are cute. Relish trays and veggie trays are pretty inexpensive if you do it yourself.
