Now for the sad news of today...Frown

My hubby's partner's wife woke up Thurs morning complaining of an awful headache. Minutes later she collapsed and was rush to the hospital. It was a brain aneurysm and she passed away early afternoon today.
It is also her birthday and today she would have been 51 years old. No warning at all...

Needless to say dh will head up to CT for a few days. We thought it best that I stay here to keep an eye on the pups.

It was such shocking news
So sorry! My SIL had an aneurysm in her 30's. Luckily she was at the doctors office which was attached to a hospital when she collapsed so they were able to save her!

The ham salad idea with the bologna was something I thought about too. It would be fancier.
hey hun! we have some friends that did something like this. They actually did a potluck (which i wasnt fond of because they had just had a baby shower, wedding shower, and bachelor/ bachelorette parties and i really didnt have $ to keep shelling out. But my issue was that they assigned food to bring and i cant provide roast for 150 people.) anyways If you tried that and just asked everyone to bring a dish, it wouldnt be bad at all and most people make what they like, so they would really like the foodSmilie What time is the wedding? Could you get away with just some appetizers?

So DS had his first soccer game today. We took some portrait pictures of him in his uniform in the backyard. These are my favorite. One of him and one of DD waiting for me to finish. I got to break out my big telephoto lens for the game. Haven't used that sucker in years. Oh, and I totally need to take a class on taking pics in bright, harsh sunlight. Does anyone have any tips on that? It is the one thing I struggle with all the time. I took a ton of beach pics yesterday and some are pretty good and some are crap. Damn sun.

Nice idea. His is an open house though. People come and go at will. I am sure whatever we do will be fine and people will talk but I figure the people that come are going to know DS and not be surprised except for DH family. They will probably talk but I am sure they do anyways Big Grin They are way more sophisticated that we are. laugh out loud

Scratchhead The 28th of this month is a Monday. Wrong day of the week or wrong date? It would be terrible to plan for Monday and it be on Wednesday or vice versa.

Isn't there anything on Amazon Baby that would work for a wedding...

Diapers for napkins...Big Grin
I wouldn't either, luckily I live in BFE Big Grin

I think there were favors that might work for weddings too but not sure on that. Kate Aspen I believe.

Just got home from the Mark Shultz [youtube.com] concert - it was awesome! He performed with Jason Gray and David Klinkenberg who were also amazing. Our church was hosting it at a local gymnasium and the girls and I volunteered for the product tables.

It made me realize that I need to stop downloading so much popular music for them and just focus on more uplifting/meaningful songs instead. I mean, what is Lady Gaga and Pitbull teaching my kids?

Mama can dance to Christian music too nod I used to vacuum to Mylon LeFevre and Broken Heart in my college days.

I've seen Mark before too. He was the headliner for a Christian music weekend in Athens a few years ago.

I'm still dancing to it. Still have CD's that are 10 plus years old and the message is still the same.

Oh, I didn't mean that! I knew you weren't critisizing. I want to dress it up. It just occurred to me how bologna is not a normal wedding food. laugh out loud I was a little shocked myself when they first said it.

you can do some very cheap and easy appetizers if you have the time to cookWink i can get you the recipies if you want. If its an open house i would def go with finger foods that dont require silverware (much easierSmilie)
Or another easy way is to do a theme (my fav for cheap is salads) and do an array of different salads. pasta, potato, pea, corn, green, chicken..etc
another fairly cheap ( it think i was right at $75 with buns and meat etc) is the pulled pork with coleslaw. 1 roaster full should feed about 75 hungry people. We did it for our housewarming party and i think we probably served about 80. I got the 1/2 size sandwich rolls at walmartSmilie
