The basement is looking better. It appears that it was as high as 6 inches at one point. From what I gather, it appears that even if we had caught it early, it still would have been just as bad because we wouldn't be able to sump pump the water out because it would just come right back in, and we just had way too much stuff on the ground. The week was even worse because things at work are a disaster. We had a deal worked out for the sale of the pharmacy and then the buyer started pulling out all these stupid & expensive requests, things we wouldn't have to do if we were selling it to anyone else. They wouldn't budge and just royally just pissed us all off. We really would love to pull the plug on the whole deal but we think it is the best offer she will get and it would actually be an even bigger headache if we did that. We are waiting on the the owner (the deceased pharmacist's wife) to make her final decision.


I'm so sorry to hear about your Daddy. I see everyone else has mentioned that prostate CA has such a good recovery rate. I know that you will still be worrying though. I will be praying for Daddy, Grandma and you since you don't need to be worrying about anybody but yourself right now. Momma Junie is right - it will all be ok.

I was a busy bee today as well. Got some employment tax stuff done, a few loads of laundry, dyed Easter Eggs with the kids, made Rice Krispie eggs with the kids, Sweat to the Oldies with Richard Simmons for awhile, made grilled pork & fixins' for supper, caught up on my homework, and now checking in with you guys! I'm tired so think I'll go veg on the couch for awhile and then hit the hay. Nighty Night!

Prom book on FB...I did the simple path thinking it would be simple...I'm not sure it was! But I just threw them in there for the others to look at and will have to play with a different book for us before I buy...did I just say buy???? For the next great deal!

DD called last night (or this morning) at 1:30 and wanted me to come pick her up. They had went out for breakfast after prom and then her friends wanted to go hang out at WalMart and she said that she wasn't feeling well, so she stayed in the car until I got there...she seemed fine when I got there about 15 minutes later, so I am hoping that nothing major was going on. 1:30 is pretty late for her, so I am hoping she was just tired. She was going to stay at one of the girl's and DH tried to tell me that I should just come with him for the night...I'm glad I didn't. I'm glad she knows that she can call me for whatever reason and I will be there...but I am tired as 1:30 is pretty late for me as well!

so i made a HUGE basket for the shower i have today...thanks amazon! It's DF's sister, so it went to a good home. although i didn't get much from amazon, i put it to good use. i gave her diapers and the muffin bib from there. got free wipes at T (thanks for the HU ariel with the bogo's a couple weeks ago) lined the whole thing with hanging socks (free right now at T with the $1 circo TQ) and gave all johnson & johnson nescessities (free from RA last month- thanks snowie!) and decorated with some baby food jars (free from the market with that $5 beeachnut q- thanks again kootz!). i am quite proud of myself, i won't lie. i bought the $5 collapsable storage bin to put everything in and the wrap, bow and card... oo and $1.25 and $2.48 on a blanket and outfit from T. so for under $10, it looked like i spent $100. one of my best scores yet! I love having an actual basement to store all this stuff!!!! LOL ok i'm done bragging. thanks for all the help EVERYONE. :hug :

I hear ya...the baby had a 103.3 temp night before last. Took her to the Pediatrician yesterday....VIRUS....nothing we can do. She is soooo cranky b/c she's teething too. My oldest is gone all the time to track crap and when she's home, she fights with everyone. To top it off one of her little friends from school that lives up the road had a house fire so we took her in until they can get water and electricity back. I'm worried sick about her friend and their family. Took them a bunch of stockpile stuff but they just moved here so I'm thinking they think we're crazy (because who has all that stuff in their basement?!) I was also able to outfit their daughter in new jeans and C9 apparel for school the next day. Sponsored by Target of course. Oh and DS crawled under my dining room table last night while I was discussing some major family problems with my brother on the phone and proceeded to paint the floor and chair/table legs with poop. He walked up to me with it all.over.his.body. and said "sorry" "sorry" "sorry" all nervous and rainman-like. In to the shower with him and some other hell broke loose while I was cleaning up. It is a no win situation to be me this week. I'd drink but I came down with a stomach virus too.

Well the wind here is absolutely crazy!! It is really scary. Trees are blowing over, shingles, swing sets, and so on. Well right now dh is headed home from a car show he took his class to. He is about two hours away. They are in a bus and I just got a call the windshield blew out! I am trying really hard not to freak out there, but wth! I called him and he said he couldn't talk he was holding up the windshield. I sure hope he calls back soon. BTW they said there are 6 semi's turned over on i-40 right now. Scary stuff!

Well today is a day for me. I was already coming here to ask my beloved friends for and positive thoughts for some long drawn out family drama and then I just got more bad news. So on top of the family drama that my daddy and Momma Junie are going through, my dad was just dx with prostate cancer. I am trying not to freak out. The dr said he thinks its ok, and should be 100% curable, but they don't know yet. He has to go in for more testing. I feel like breaking down and for hours! This is a little too close to all the same kinda stuff I was going through a year ago with my mom. I can't even think about all of this. Momma Junie is flying out here tomorrow to be with me or when Lily comes, and now I feel guilty and think she should stay. My daddy and her won't listen, but I am worried. Also, I just found out that my grandma has to go in for a biopsy as well (she has cancer a long time ago). Momma Junie says it will all be ok, but I think she is just saying that to make me feel better and not stress too much.

So J is really sick. He stayed home from work today and will be doing the same tomorrow. Last week on of the dr's he works with checked him out and said he had a double ear infections. That was on Wednesday. They 'tested' him for the flu and said he was fine. They called in a Z pack, but said to only fill it if he felt worse. Well on Saturday I picked up the med for him. He has only gotten worse. This is day 3 of antibiotics, so he should be improving. I am making him get reseen tomorrow and see what they can do. I hope our house doesn't get this plague! We need some healthy ppl here so that we can bring our little princess into this world soon! Only 9 days left....

It doesn't appear as though our homeowners insurance will cover anything. And simply not knowing makes it worse. Erie is really dropping the ball on communicating with us.

Did you happen to have hail that possibly broke out a window in the basement??? or left a window open in the basement???

If water "came in" through a window, it might be covered...might be too late at this point, but we have had many flooding issues around here and it is amazing how many people left there windows open in pooring rain.

I would suggest if there are a lot of people that have damage to call the county if there has not been a disaster issued at the county level. If there is enough damage, your county can petition the state for a state disaster issued and then the state can petition the federal gov...not sure that with the tornados that happened this week that water damage will rise to the top, but worth keeping your ears open or being a sqeeky wheel.

Your local Red Cross might also be able to help with "clean up kits". These are buckets with bleach and other cleaning supplies. You also need to make sure you know what is safe to keep and what can not be saved.

Water damage is the worst! My guess is it was water and not sewage...

but I do have a question for you all.... If you saw that someone close to you was losing weight to fast and going by a diet but the diet only allows for 1200 calories and they keep coming in under their calorie limit but exercising, how would you broach this subject with them???

Thanks for the suggestion. It's more annoying than anything else. I wanted to clean out the basement at some point this year, and this was the perfect reason to do so. It's a shame losing stuff that I would have preferred not to lose.
