Then I got a woman who I could understand much better. She connected me with a specialist for deleting Go Back, which Norton doesn't support anymore. He seemed to know his stuff, and the rest went smoothly. So we ended up deleting all of Go Back from an earlier product and Internet Security 2011 and then reinstalled NIS 2011. Getting rid of Go Back makes startup so much smoother and faster.
But the initial instability problem (I think) was that I hadn't updated my graphics driver like I should have.

Did you go into the bank and speak with a manager? They should give you at least a portion of the funds right off the bat. After all, you'd be responsible for repaying the amount if the check were bogus. Go into your local branch and tell them you want access to your money.
