Fall 2011 new TV shows (((new update about Awake on post 185)))

So what do you think about the new shows so far?

I like New Girl, it was a bit awkward and slow at the beginning but by the end of the show, I was hooked. There were some funny jokes and good casting. I love the Small spoiler:

Two Broke Girls
, I made the mistake of watching a short clip online about a week ago and thought it looked terrible but DH set it to tape. Turns out the short clip was the least funny line in the whole show, the rest of the show was witty and downright funny.

Unforgettable
, meh. I'll watch one more because DH wants to, but wasn't that fussed over it. There were a couple of really annoying points in the show. Huge spoiler:

Free Agents
, really liked this one. Good cast and a really good pilot. Just hope they can keep it up without it becoming tired.

The Secret Circle
. Typical trying to cash in on Twilight show, only with witches. Couldn't get through one episode.

Same thing with Ringer, had to turn it off part way through the pilot.

Some shows I'm looking forward to, haven't aired yet....

Awake (no air date at this time but the trailer is really interesting and the lead actor is one of my faves, he's British)
Grimm (trailer looks good, even though the premise sounds silly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3rFsv_WSE it airs 10/28, date changed)
Pan Am (Like Madmen in the air?Dontknow airs 9/25)
Person of Interest (the trailer looks really good, interesting premise airs 9/21)
Prime Suspect (there's a British Show by the same name, so I guess they're doing an American version Dontknow Airs 9/22)

Finale's almost always suck. The only one that had great closure to almost every storyline AND was a fantastic episode IMO was The Shield. I actually love Larry David's idea for Curb. He doesn't plan to do ANYTHING for his finale, it's just gonna be a regular, high quality episode. Just like all the others. Any of his season finales could just about be a series finale for all we know, especially since we never know IF another season is coming.
The Wire and Six Feet Under also had good endings.

I'm taking my sweet time with The Wire, I never got into it while it was airing but I'm slowly watching it now. Never watched SFU either, but I have indeed heard great things about the six feet under finale, so I'll trust your judgment on both.

Seinfeld's finale sucked. There was no thought or effort to make a memorable ending.

Newhart had one of the best finales ever.
Six Feet Under is my top pick for finales.

Lost finale is my top pick for epic failure

I thought the Newhart series finale was very good.....a "shocker". However, for MASH, was it really all that good? It was nice and sentimental because MASH was such a big hit. But, Alan Alda's character just went home and saw the "Goodbye" sign as his copter was pulling away. I'd say it's just as sentimental as the Cheers finale.

For me, the BEST series finale has got to be Star Trek TNG...."all good things". As a stand alone episode, it is easily in the Top 10 among TNG fans. As a finale, it had a great plot, was sentimental, and was a good sendoff for the show.

The only problem I have with the Newhart ending is that it gave writers a stupid outlet to explain away anything they feel like. Newhart's was fine, because it was original.

I didn't watch Star Trek TNG, lost interest somewhere in season 2.

Yeah, season 1 was okay....kind of cheesy. And, season 2 was a little better. TNG didn't really get good until season 3 when Dr. Crusher came back. I'd say that season 3,4, and 5 were the best. They started losing it around season 6....some good episodes but some bad. Season 7 was mostly bad. But, the series finale was really, really good.

I agree, it did start going downhill a bit in season 6, the finale wasn't bad, it brought the series full circle back to episode 1.
Season 2 was a bit weak too, but there was a writer's strike going on at the time. They had to round up plot ideas and scripts where ever they could find them. Even then it was a short season, 22 episodes vs 26, and there was a "flashback" clip episode "Shades of Gray".

Best finale was Mash by far.

Don't forget the new episodes of Dexter as far as new episodes go! I never can watch them when they come on but with my cable I can watch them in a couple of days.

Sorry but I like it. The humor is sarcastic but also has lots of little nods to the 80's and 90's that I enjoy. DH of course is fixated on her cleavage, so he watches it for that. laugh out loud

Adding Terra Nova to my DVR. I watched the first three episodes on Hulu and liked the characters. I hope this does not get canceled like V or Surface.

I watched Once Upon A Time last night. I'm not sure what I think of it. I wasn't really planning on watching it. I just happened to see a commercial saying it was coming on last night while I was on another channel, so I stayed to watch it.

I think I need another episode to get into it. Right now it is just not interesting enough, in my opinion...
