This Occupy LA thing's about to get interesting. The LAPD are all geared up and about to move in to "evict" everyone. I'm currently watching a live stream of the events...
2. If a cop sees someone in a handicap parking spot without a sticker.. 100% of the time, he will ticket that person. How often are people arrested for "blocking a sidewalk"?
One is a legitimate crime.. the other is a trumped up charge to justify the police using violence to break up a peaceful assembly.
Like I said, if there was a pink tent on the quad and they were having a camp-a-thon to raise money for breast cancer, I doubt the cops get called.
And again, if you had read the farking thread instead of just instigating, you'd know that the crime they were committing had ZERO to do with the use of force. They were actively resisting arrest and wouldn't move peacefully so the next option was used and used effectively.
Please, if you're going to argue, at least make it intelligent..
I explained to PainttheSkyGrey the difference between parking in a handicap spot and the bogus charge of "blocking the sidewalk".. but if you need more clarification.. If someone parked in a handicap spot and was pepper sprayed for it, I would be upset with the excessive force too.

I don't think I will be pepper sprayed or even threatened with violence.
Penal Code 409 states:
Every person remaining present at the place of any riot, rout,
or unlawful assembly, after the same has been lawfully warned to
disperse, except public officers and persons assisting them in
attempting to disperse the same, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Why is it ok for them not to obey the order to "move to a designated area" that is lawful to protest?
Why should they be allowed to break the law? What example does that set for future protests?
Why didn't they move and continue to protest?
They KNEW they were breaking the law.....otherwise they would have no reason to lock their arms (passive resistance).
So what should have the officers have employed as the next tactic to move these people? Manual pain tactics? Believe me, whatever they chose to do, the group still would have been crying brutality.
