Base on what criterias do you rank people?

611 189 February 6, 2012 at 11:15 AM in Chat
I'm going to put this out there first before asking this question. I believe that our brainpower lasts longer than our physical appearance. Almost every nice looking person in this world will one day grow old and become unattractive but brainpower is there with them until the day they die or acquire Alzheimer. With that being said and since I am in college right now I will start up with the college environment. Does anyone here rank people based on what their major are in college - kind of like the caste system? The more difficult major require higher rank in high school - meaning people who excelled in every class in high school are allowed admission to that specific major.

I'm curious about this because whenever I walk around campus, I always see people wearing shirts that may have one of the following phrases on them "College of Liberal Art, College of Natural Science, College of Engineering, College of Business." Does this mean that they want to be ranked based on their major?

You should have an idea along the lines of only let people with good degrees breed. That way we can weed out the undesirables.

The College of Liberal Arts. Most of what they teach do not make my life easier.
sure they are all total zeros, but it's something they like to study, you can't fault them for that

But, you are suppose to respect people who have better genetics (traits that are deemed desirable in today's society) than you. Those are the ones advancing our civilization.
Supposed to? According to whom?

If they aren't trying hard and are just coasting along on their natural abilities why should they be respected?

I have more respect for someone with lower intelligence who does their best with what they have.

Better genetics will produce better offsprings. In the long run, the people with better genetics will produce generation of innovators. People with less desirable genetics that work hard is a short term solution toward making our lives easier. It is not guaranteed that their offspring will improve our offspring's lives in the future. There is a higher chance that people with better genetics will make greater impact on society so they deserve our respect and can judge us in any ways they want to if they are higher. I have already submitted myself to the people with superior genetics and I believe that should be the thing people should do.

Many would consider someone who works hard to have better genetics than someone who coasts along on their natural abilities.

I would consider someone who feels the need to rank people to be at the bottom of the barrel of genetics.

Ok ok, I will be more broad. In college, I respect those majors that have the lowest acceptance rate since those majors tend to be the hardest in the universities. In life, I respect those who have vast amount of wealth (anyone who is making 100k+ a year). There is a positive correlation between tough majors and money making power. So, in the end, I respect those who can strive through a tough major. And, they have every right to judge me and I will respect everything they say. But, for those that are in the majors deemed not beneficial for society or improving our lives, their says mean nothing.
Soooooo what's it's like being all "elite" and stuff? Scratchchin

Let's all take a brief look at some case history for a moment:

I regretted of being an engineer because there are no girls in my classes. Now, I have to drag my lazy bottom to either the Bio college or Communication to find one Frown
Quote from TheCoffeePrince :

Quote from TheCoffeePrince :
So why should people not cheat to get the 4.0 when they have enough intelligence to get a 3.0? You get a bunch of scholarships and grants with a good GPA 3.5+. No one cares about the 3.0... That is like nothing. GPA is not only important for the first internship, it's also important for grants and getting free money while you are in college.

How I see it is that most of the smart cheaters cheated because they are the ones who know how to adapt and survive as oppose to the 3.0 GPA people who don't cheat, these people don't know how to think outside the box to out survive the rest of the average population and reap the most benefits from getting free scholarship money. You do whatever is necessary to help you survive, isn't that how animals have been living for the past how many thousands of years. College, schools, work places are like battlefields right? Shouldn't you do whatever it takes to win the battle? no one wants to lose - well, except the ones who are bound by morals.
Quote from TheCoffeePrince :
A degree is just a piece of paper that shows your employer you have the necessary discipline and skills to work for their companies. I have had many friends from the engineering department who told me that they only use around 5-10% (maybe less) of what they learned in school for their jobs. So, I wouldn't be surprised if people actually work in a different field than the one they graduated with.

I am an architectural engineer and I am content with my major choice. I was forced to be an engineer anyway since I sucked at everything else in high school... Heck I couldn't even write well when I was in high school nor can I memorize historical facts. Those were just too much for my brain. Hope people are content with their choices! We live vicariously through one another.

Quote from TheCoffeePrince :
Inheritance in addition to what I will earn while I work up to age 40~45. Yes, I plan on retiring at age 40, hopefully earlier if I can.

I thought about putting those into a business, but that's too risky. Then the next thought came into mind, which was the idea of moving to a different country where the standard of living is considerably lower than that in the US. Nothing wrong with living in a country whose standard of living is extremely low so long as you can live at the top right? Smilie
Quote from TheCoffeePrince :
This is plan B in case I get bored of whatever I will be doing in the future. Say I will have around $2 million (after tax) by the time I am around 40-year old, which country (Excluding every country in Africa) will allow me to live like king up to the day I die (say around 85-95-year old) without having to work another day.
Just for good measure:

On the bright side, it sounds like even if he could find a mate to breed with, he has enough respect for humankind to not procreate.
