let's not beat around the bush. That someone is the insurance lobby / industry.
and the "$90 fine" is only good for the first year. It quadruples or much more the second year.
statistically your risk of a health condition is NOT the same as everyone else. It varies (widely) with age.
WTF are you talking about? How old are you buddy? Not old enough to drive or own a car I'm guessing.
"Same insurance rate for all" because "you have about the same risk as any other driver on the roads of being involved in an accident"?
Car insurance rates are different from one person to the next based on risk factors and your driving history.
But I'll wait to pass judgment.
Still thumbs up so that this gets attention and sparks more attention and discussion.
I just don't believe the right-wing sky is falling prediction. They are the ones who claimed we were headed towards higher inflation because of the budget deficits (something resembling Zimbabwe some even laughably predicted) and it didn't come to pass.
They also said this "socialist" would be anti business, and yet we sit with a stock market, SP 500 and Nasdaq at record highs. No conservative predicted that in 2008.
So I'll just wait before drinking that tea-flavored Kool-aid.
Young people will pay more, since catastrophic plans will not be covered by Obamacare. If you get Catastropic plans now, you can keep them, but you wont' get any subsidies.
But for older people, people with pre-existing conditions and even most women, they will be better off with this.

Their excuse for the rate hijacking? Oh...people are overusing their plans and we also have to pay for the newer technology.
If the way shit worked was that your rate is paying for coverage for you and only you and YOUR usage is what determines it, I might be a little more inclined to want to pay in. But because granny with two bad hips, cataracts and a club foot needs major farkin' surgery MY rates go up, UP, UP....fark NO.
The difference in HEALTH risk between a 21 year old and a 45 year old is MUCH larger proportionally.
then extrapolated from a 45 year old to a 65 year old and you see the humongous difference.
If you can't see the difference you are ignorant to the effects of age on health or just burying your head in the sand.

That's why I stopped buying private insurance a long time ago and why I resent this law ever being passed. God knows I didn't vote for Obama or any of the shleps that helped pass this turd. But I know I WILL vote every last one of them out of office next election.
Until later on when ACA2.0 comes around to finally cut out the insurance company middle man which would make it a big win

That's a big problem facing the health care system, the free rider problem. Because we just don't let people die, we take them in even if they don't have insurance. and then they don't want to pay, declare bankruptcy and we shoulder the costs.
Um wait, we ALREADY have social security.

The hospital and doctors and drug companies are the big blood sucker.
In Los Angeles, comparing by paying cash to visit a doctor or emergency to using health insurance, it can be vary by as much as 50%
