Formula One racing's governing body, the FIA, has revealed details of a new Super Licence points system, making it harder for drivers to become eligible for F1 competition.
From 2016, drivers must have accumulated 40 points over a three-year period, with points allocation based on which other motorsport series they have participated in and the level of results they achieved.
Drivers will have also have to be at least 18-years old, have spent at least two years in junior single-seater categories, hold a valid road driver's licence and pass a test on the Formula One sporting regulations. The existing requirement of completing 300 kilometres in a recent F1 car also remains.
*snip*
If such a system had been in place ahead of 2015, new Toro Rosso signing Max Verstappen would be ineligible to race in F1 this year, having accrued just 20 points by finishing third in the 2014 FIA F3 European championship - the 17-year-old's only season of car racing to date.

People seem to forget, this is ONE owner funding TWO teams in the series.
Not ONE owner funding ONE team.
And as can be seen by the mess that was Sauber in Australia, it is very easy to be on the wrong side of the money war and anyone with knowledge knows that without the money from FOUR pay drivers that was spent by Sauber, they wouldn't be competitive this year.
When one of the four largest teams in your sport is talking about leaving because it doesn't make financial sense for them to stay, and the only two competitive teams are completely vertical integrated, it means your industry is broken and needs to be fixed.
For reference, this would be like Manchester United or the New York Yankees talking about leaving their leagues in comparison to Red Bull Racing leaving F1.
RBR hasn't been around all that long, but they are one of the largest sponsors of F1 through both car and track sponsorship.

The turn 12 seats are a bit pricey for what they are, IMO, especially the further north you go, which is all that's left. I'd step up to turn 15 before doing turn 12 again. (seats with backs and arms, better viewing angles, and other small things).
Turn 9 is a fantastic deal, IMO. From row 33 I could see all the way from turn 6, down to the hairpin at turn 11, and most of the back straight into turn 12 and the stadium section. that's a clear third of the track which nobody else gets.
I'm glad I went early and sat in the huge GA crowd at turn 1 last year...it's really something else, the energy is fantastic, but you really can't see anything
more so than F1, which ends up being some pretty long days for me to to feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of it, I'm looking forward to the Lone Star Le Mans weekend in September. that includes FIA WEC, which is quickly becoming a lot more interesting than F1. That includes a 6 hour day into night endurance race and fireworks, it's a pretty good time, IMO.

BTW, did you hear Button was given a five second penalty for crashing into Maldonado, which put him back a position. He was also given two points on his superlicense.
