This is actually a solid shoe...I have the waterproof version and enjoy it.

edit: I use mine for disc golf if that helps anybody. actually has a really good outsole, which is an issue with the wear and tear disc golf puts on shoes.

I have both. The TERREX Swift R GTX is a much better shoe, The AX2 is just a basic, hiking shoe, not much cushioning IMO.

Thanks for the Adidas site code. Ordered 5 pairs of the climaproof as not sure of the fit. 3 shoes and 2 boots for around 200 bucks. Hope they all fit the boys somehow.

This is a great deal for this shoe. I purchased them about 2 years ago, do a moderate amount of hiking, and these have held up like a champ. Purchased another pair after seeing the post - thanks OP!

I've worn a lot of adidas shoes over the years, and I can say that AX2 seems to be pretty true to size, like most adidas shoes. For whatever reason, adidas always seem to fit me well whereas Nike never does, not sure exactly what the difference is.

The AX2s I had were great, though I did think the outsole wore a bit quick with everyday use. I like them enough that when I replaced them I bought Swift R's with the same sole, assuming they woulf fit the same. Unfortunately the Swift R's seem a bit too narrow through the toe and have not loosened up over time. There's also a rough or tight bit of fabric inside that rubs me the wrong way. No such problem with the AX2.

Good looking shoes, come with no-tie laces, and the same sole as the AX2. But the upper is different, both in materials and cut, and squashes my toes together. I've owned both, and the AX2's always fit me perfectly. Wish I could find a cheap pair again - didn't relize this was a Costco deal when I clicked.

I was at Costco today and it wasn't very busy, surprisingly. And they didn't have these shoes, either. I just ordered a pair, not optimistic about them fitting since I usually wear an 11.5 wide and they didn't have wide or half sizes above 11. But it's easy enough to return them if they don't fit.
