Drinking Water - Most economical option?

3,748 578 February 17, 2018 at 11:32 AM
I'm a single health conscious guy and wanted to know what everyone here think is the most economical option for drinking water. The water in my condo tastes like crap. I've even had plumbers tell me not to drink city water. I have a costco membership, sometimes will buy case of bottled water or just drink from my pur water filter jug. Is it more economical for me to continue to drink from my pur water filter jug, bottled water, or shpuld I invest in a water dispenser and buy the huge galls of water from lowes / home depot? I go through a lot of water.

Buy the water cooler at Costco with the bottle underneath.

Buy the first 5 gallon jug full. Refill with one gallon bottles from market.

Tap water is supposed to taste bad, but it won't kill you.

Not the OP. But I have lived in hyper-chlorinated areas. Simple filters don't give you the taste of spring water.

I think there is a balance here between cost, convenience, and taste. My suggestion is the best balance I found when faced with the taste of chlorine.

My tap water tastes better than any bottled water I have ever tried.

But your tap water in a bottle, and that will no longer be true.

Mine too, straight out of the well. No treatment or filtering of any kind.

Mine too. Mine actually comes from a aquifer that water bottler's use. Of course if the frackers have their way they very well could poison things for everybody.

Move to Washington state, all the water here is snow melt good... except maybe the stuff near Hanford, it has that extra radioactive kick to it.

They already have for Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and a good chunk of the mid-west states.

I can't wait for the day they try to sell oxygen back to us, besides medical needs.

Messed up my aunt's well, near Lufkin, Texas. Now she has to chlorinate out every month or it smells like sulphur

Our water isn't necessarily bad for you, but it seems of chlorine sometimes and other times it smells really fishy. We have an under sink filter and another on our ice maker. I just bought replacement filters from Amazon and two pack of them was $29. They are rated for 6 months or 2000 gallons and our water tastes great.
