It is awesome. I have the m18 rockets and the only negative to them is the weight and sheer size of the tool when folded. This is super light and compact. I'm working on a way to attach a sling to make it even easier to haul around.
One thing I didn't know it would be useful for is using it like a boom mic.
Fully extend the neck and leave the legs folded, use the handle and hold it as an extension to your arm.
Two of us were working in a small corner and I was able to stand back and hang the light in the perfect spot over their shoulder without standing on top of them.
It really is light, and feels sturdy.
Im glad they put a 120v plug in the bottom as well. This feels like a quality piece and I feel it will out last the m12 platform and batteries for years to come. I'm treating it more as an investment in long term lighting that won't have to be reliant on batteries years from now when something new comes along.
That being said, I still think the M18 Rocket Tower is better than the M12 for several reasons: provides more lumens, more height, more run time (if you have a high capacity 18V 9.0 or 12.0 battery) and it can also charge your batteries if necessary. The downside is that it's more expensive (of course) and almost 10lbs heavier. I recently got in on the M18 Radius Compact light deal b/c I had more use for a portable light system indoors (power outages) and in sheds/garages. These tower lights are really meant for outdoor jobsite type situations (and maybe if you're a photographer?). They also have utility if you're a painter however I think you could still get away with one of the Radius lights for indoor contractor work.

I think otherwise they would have called it red3day?
The light normally retails for $150, so the free battery is nice. Only thing about this guy is the height is a bit shorter than the m18 version and less lumens. Still very bright.
